Retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer with over 29 years of service. I am also the wife of a retired US Army soldier and the mother of a soldier who was injured in Iraq from an IED. SUPPORT THE TROOPS!!!! Please Honor all our military without complaining on memorials!
My memorials are lopsided as I manage a deceased cousin's contributions to Findagrave.
If Findagrave doesn't approve of comments in our profiles, they DO access our profiles and delete comments and some of our flowers in our scrapbooks.
TRANSFERS: I follow Findagrave's guidelines of the 4-generation rule for transfers; aunts/uncles/cousins are NOT included in the transfer rule. Consider creating a virtual cemetery to keep your relatives together. If the individual in the 4-generation rule transfer request is a closer relative to me, then I will maintain the memorial.
DEATH CERTIFICATES are welcomed on my memorials as they are in the public domain and, although at times there are errors, they can provide a wealth of information. Although some, but not all, death certificates are available for free on FamilySearch.org, I add them so individual's who cannot afford ancestry.com have access to their relative(s) documents. It's my way of paying forward. And now Findagrave is owned by ancestry.com.
SUGGESTIONS: For those making suggestions, please research and provide the researched information for me to update. Additionally; 1: If someone has a duplicate memorial, courtesy is to ask that individual to delete it FIRST before asking Findagrave to get involved.
HEADSTONE PHOTO VOLUNTEERS-If you volunteer and post headstone photos, please take a photo of the COMPLETE marker. I find more and more that some individuals crop the bottom of the markers off - especially on military grave sites, which does an injustice to our veterans. You took the time to take the photo, then PLEASE take the time to crop & post the headstone photo correctly.
Working together is a whole lot better than working by yourself:)
SSDI-Regarding the "Last Residence" in the SSDI: This is the last address of record, not necessarily where the individual died. Please do not ask me to list it as the place of death on memorial pages - to do so would only be a guess.
I work hard on Findagrave and have sponsored quite a few memorials. Please be a contributor and not just a person who adds names. It's great to see the people who do provide research.
SPAM: Recently SPAM has been coming into my email and it's that 'robo' email wanting to give us money. Appparently our Findgrave accounts have been hacked. SUGGEST changing password!

Thank you for your years of service. And also, thank you for your comments in your profile regarding the SSDI not being the location of someone's death. I agree wholeheartedly. I've had a couple of arguments with people over the years who said they don't care where the person died, they care where the person lived. They couldn't grasp the concept that the location of death determines where the death certificate is filed. Some even disagreed with the location on the SSDI being the last known residence rather than place of death. But my own mother serves as proof of this.... Because my mother was incapacitated for several weeks before her death, I had all of her official mailings changed to my address in Florida. (My mom lived in West Virginia at the time). Consequently, when she died, the SSDI lists Florida as her last known residence because that's where he Social Security checks were being mailed. But she never set foot in Florida in her life! Anyway, thanks again for your follow-up and your work on FindAGrave!

You mentioned on her memorials you were 2nd cousins to Roy Nunley. How exactly are you related? Roy is the youngest brother of my grandfather, Luther Edward Nunley. Love to share family information. We are having a Nunley Family Reunion on Sep 30, 2017 in Dunlap at the Rescue Squad building. I will be glad to send you the flyer for information. We would love to have you and all of your family come. Bring pictures, covered dish, and family records.

I'm happy to help. Sorry it took me so long getting back out there. I think I mentioned before that my health has prevented me from doing a lot of things lately. I would like to get out there and get photos of all the remaining stones. We see how that goal works out.

Hi cousin, I just wanted to thank you for the kind words on dad's memorial page.
I haven't been in in a while... It's still so hard, but just saw that you posted a very kind message. Thank you so much.. That meant a lot.

|Stephen M.||Thanks Sherlock|
Thanks for the photo of Clarence Morris' headstone, although it turns out this is not the individual I thought he was. You do take great photos and I wish all photo contributors took such good quality and framed photos as you do.
You're the best...
