I am part of a project to research the history, "residents" and eventually to record all inscriptions in Gravesend Cemetery, Kent. I am happy to take photo requests for this cemetery as I am a frequent visitor there. I am always interested to hear from anyone with any information about interesting people buried there, (they certainly don't have to be "famous"!)

I am always willing to transfer ownership of my memorials to relatives.

Sir Thomas Octavius Callender
Greetings,

Thank you for the entry of Sir Thomas Octavius Callender. I noticed your success in submitting famous bios. It may please you to look into this man. There is a good Wikipedia entry for him. It includes his proper dates and some information as to his significant cultural contributions. He rather electrified London. I also saw online a splendid portrait of him. I hope this is your type of undertaking.

Kind Regards,

George Seitz

Julian
Hello,

As a biographer of the emperor Julian II, I read your entry at Find A Grave with some interest. I have some additional information you might want to add. The exact date of his birth is a matter of dispute, but most scholars accept 331 as the date based upon the ancient historian Ammianus Marcellinus. Inscriptional evidence indicates he was born on 6 November (CIL 12 p. 302). Julian is more properly referred to as Julian II. The "Apostate" is a tag given to him by the Catholic church. Julian was killed by a spear thrust into his abdomen. At first, it appeared that he might recover but he died from an infection.

Thanks.

I refer to your memorial no.32331970.
His death certificate shows that he died on 26th November 1926 aged 38. The headstone inscription of death on 16th November 1926 aged 37 is incorrect.
He died in Potter's Bar Cottage Hospital, Herts. after an accident in a nearby sawmill in Cuffley.
An inquest was held on 30th November and he was cremated at Golder's Green Crematorium on 2nd December. His ashes were subsequently buried in a coffin at the Extra- Mural Cemetery, Lewes Road in Brighton on 3rd December 1926 in grave no. XM 41624.

Marion Mull
Queen's Road Cemetery, Croydon
Hello, My Great Grandparents Edward Vallance 1862-1940 and Evelyn Isabelle Vallance 1862-1933 were buried at Queens Road Cemetery, Croydon in Plot 713A. I do not know if they had a grave marker but I would be really happy if you could take a photo of whatever you can find.
Thank you in advance, Marion

Elisha Smith Robinson 38411780
Elisha Smith Robinson was married first to Elizabeth Frank Ring and second to Louisa Thomas. He was not married to one of the adopted daughters of Sir Charles Wathen. Could you please fix that part of the bio
Thank you Pat Leitch

I wonder if you mind transferring this over to me as the family are direct ancestors. If you don't wish to, it's fine. Best wishes.

Memorial for Sophia and Russell Scott
This is one of "your" memorials in the Protestant Dissenting Burying ground in Portsmouth. I wondered if you had a transcription of the stone (I am in Canada so doing a transcription would be tricky and expensive for me). Sophia and Russell Scott are my 3rd great-grandparents.

Thank you for your photographs.
