I have been doing genealogy work for over 25 years with brief intervals of inactivity when my life took different turns. |
I love going to all the old cemeteries in South Georgia marveling at some of the old tombstones, some of which are quite elaborate and expensive even for that period of time, and thinking about how our ancestors lived. Since my husband and I shared so many ancestors (including at least three great-great-great grandfathers), it was an easy task getting information about our "kinfolk".
When my husband of nearly 40 years passed away in 2002 my enthusiasm for genealogy waned somewhat and I did little research for a couple of years; then I found the FindAGrave website and entered a few memorials. I absolutely love entering memorials and posting pictures of tombstones for so many of the South Georgia cemeteries which I have helped "survey" over the years thus enabling so many people access to this information. I especially like being able to link families and consider this one of the most important features of FindAGrave.
I believe when entering genealogy information one should always be open to criticism in order to get information as accurate as possible -- especially when it is posted on the internet for so many thousands of people to view. Though complete accuracy is so hard to achieve I will always strive for accuracy.....should anyone find incorrect information on any of my memorials please do not hesitate to advise. However, please keep in mind that other contributors have possibly given me incorrect information.

|Sandra Lee||RE: Wilma Lee Obit|
Not completely sure we have the same reference. Wilma COLE Lee is the one I'm referring to...and I don't have a date of death or obit for her.
However, James Luther Lee, Jr., Pharmacist Mate 3rd class, is shown in the Navy Casualty Book as a combat casualty dead.
Pharmacist Mate is the rating that later become Hospital Corpsman.
Still, I'm satisfied that I AM NOT CORRECT. The 1940 census shows his as 6/12 - i.e. 6 months old! What's more, it shows his father living in Round Rock. That's inconsistent, as well.

Barbara, thank you for all of the work that you have done on behalf of my families. Living in Pennsylvania has been a hindrance in visiting actual courthouses and cemeteries. I was just looking at your work on Mariah Roberts m. Wiley Tison - my grandparents. Thank you. Jean in Pa.
|Angela Bozeman||Thank you|
Thank you for adding my father Ronald Kennedy to find a grave. My grandmother did not include me in his final arrangements and I was unsure of where he was buried

The second duplicate is someone else. I am having Find A Grave to merge them.

It was in the 1920 United States Federal Census for Coffee County, Georgia. I do not know how to show you a copy.
You know, I ran into that, also. My uncle married 3 times, and outlived all of them. I created bis memorial, but not those of his spouses. You are absolutely right. I think I finally begged a lady to transfer to me temporarily, and tben I transferred back to her. I haven't looked recently, but I wouldn't be surprised if she deleted marriage date and recreated the problem. Probably not worth the effort.

|Timothy Knight||RE: Eldest son of William A. Knight|
Thanks so much for your reply. I have been trying to track down his death date as well, but I can't seem to find it. I live out in California, otherwise I'd go to the cemetery and check it out. Archibald A. Knight had a bunch of kids. His eldest son was Forrest T. Knight (1901-72), my great grandfather was his 2nd eldest son Thurman Lawrence Knight Sr. (1906-1986), his 3rd son was Marcus McCascus Knight (1909-2002), and two daughters Ada Wilma Weathersby (1912-1988) and Mildred Knight (1915-1993). I only recently began investigating my ancestry, but I have a masters degree in History and I'm really enjoying the research. My dad, Thurman L. Knight III, passed very suddenly last year. He probably would have loved to learn more.

Thank you for the catch. I had the memorials merged.

|Timothy Knight||Eldest son of William A. Knight|
Hello! I am a direct descendant of William A. Knight, who was my 3rd great grandfather.
His grave listing is 117960394. You have all of his children listed except for his eldest son, to whom I am related. His name was Archibald Augustus Knight, his find a grave listing is 100058422. He was born Feb 21, 1879, and if you look into the Berrien County census for the year 1880 on Ancestry.com you will find William and Aliza, aged 22 and 24 respectively, and "Augustus" listed at age 1.
It would be great to see William A. Knight's page updated to reflect my 2nd great grandfather Archibald Augustus listed as his eldest son!
