I am a former Marine and a Vietnam Veteran. |
I spent two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Not as lean. Not as mean. But still a Marine!
I can only speak for myself and the photos that I have taken. I am giving my express permission for you to use my photos in any way you see fit in your family research.
I will try to never forget that am a volunteer out here, doing work for you, the absent family member.
I do not selfishly hoard my pictures under the selfish pretense of a 'copyright'. WHO in good conscience could ever selfishly refuse to share OPENLY the photo of another family's grave stone?
If you run across any of my FaG memorials in 'PIONEERS REST CEMETERY' and the photos are considerably smaller then you are accustomed to seeing my name on, it is because they are being shared by the owner of that website and transferred by me with obituaries and other information to FaG from their web site. Originally they were posting them on their site much smaller due to the older camera equipment they had back then as well as the bandwidth limitations the servers offered when the web site began.
Regardless if I created a memorial or if it was one transferred to me, do not be afraid to ask for a transfer from me. NONE of my memorials are in my family tree and I do transfer. I openly welcome and gladly transfer memorials upon request.
My personal transfer guidelines of MY memorials is very open. I like it when you are family of some sort because;
♥ I believe no one takes better care of family then family.♥
But be Honest because I also believe there may be other valid reasons for wanting a transfer. If it was a close family friend, a next door neighbor that was like family all your life or someone that played an important part in your life that you wish to pay respect to and manage the memorial instead of me, a total stranger. Just explain your reason to me and I will more then likely transfer to you. I have yet to turn anyone down.
It puzzles me....I will never understand why people refuse to or are even aloud to, not put ANY contact information such as email OR even enable their public messaging on their FaG 'Bio' page for others that may want or need to ask them for help, but are frequently requesting help from other volunteers. SOMETIMES people have a valid reason for wanting to contact them. FaG should make one or the other MANDATORY. The "ANONYMOUS" BS should not be aloud. Give no contact info, block their account from contacting others.
"A place where you search for ancestors, but you may dig up new friends!"
"Where you can confuse the dead and irritate the living."

|L Halstrom||Transfer request|
Larry, Would you be willing to transfer your memorial for Eva Halstrom to me? I have one already established for her with her portrait and other biographical information. She is my paternal grandmother.
BTW, thank you for all the work you have done documenting this cemetery. It was a real blessing for me to see my dad's marker after so many years.
please send any e-mail response to me at email@example.com
Thanks for the photos.
I kinda thought there was a reason for it because both were by you. Was just matching pics to cemetery info on Find A Grave and came across it. I know the spelling can be an issue first hand. My relatives are Bratz so I had to look at it twice just for that reason. Well thanks a lot again. If I had any info to help you finalize it either way I would. Could I ask what is your trick to get those old stones to photograph so nicely. My dad took care of the lawn at this cemetery at one time, he said some used dirt rubbed across stone to get them to show up. On the internet some say flour works good. I know some stones are the limestone I think and that's a softer stone so a brush and water isn't the answer. I want to see it not smudge it out. If you have any helpful hints it would be appreciated.
I don't want to damage or harm the engraving I would just like to read it. Open to suggestions. Thanks for any help you can give. Sonia
