I live in the North GA mountains and love it. My favorite pastime is roaming cemeteries and taking pics, not just for myself but for others.
Always excites me when it helps someone who is unable to get it themselves. Glad to help, and if you need transfers or anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be glad to help you any way I can. Feel free to use any of my photos, I share good!

My lines out of
Franklin County and Banks County are Kesler/Segars/Cheek/Norton. Barrow County, GA - Attaway/Peppers/Greeson/Cheek.

RE: Sigers
-In someway both names are correct. I think Calven is his given name. But some people called him Callaway. Maybe his name was Callaway and he didn't like it. So he used Calven instead. It's one of those things I wish I had thought to ask along time ago. His wife's name was Adis McClellon. (born May 10,1878 died August 16, 1954) She was a full blooded native american. But I don't know what tribe. Both of them were raised by their grandparents. They had 12 children.

Sigers Family
First, thank you for all your contributions that have or will help me find and learn what I can about my Family Forest. (I'm finding it all too far reaching to be called A Tree.) I have just joined Find a Grave. My Great-Grandfather, James Calven Sigers was born May 30, 1873. He was raised by his grandparents. His father had died and his mother remarried. He had a half brother who came to live with him for a while after he was married. AT some point his mother married a man named Whitecotten. If you come across anything that might help me find his family, please let me know. Have you seen any graves with the name Whitecotten?
Again, Thank you for the information and photos you have shared. It sadden me to read the poor condition and missing stones of my family. Is there no org. in charge of caring for these graves?

RE: Emma Peppers m. Ruben Fowler
That's an idea (about Gwinnett and Barrow) but I think they are listed as two separate cemeteries. No grave marker for Reuben there and the one in Barrow is obviously the right one for Reuben. I have seen cases where zealous genealogists placed markers where they should not be.

I am related to the Sellers through Joel Wood who married Mary Sellers, dau of Samuel Sellers and Eleanor DeWeese, of Tennessee. Samuel was my GGGG grandfather. Nothing further back than Samuel who died in 1839, possibly in Jefferson Co., Tenn. They resided in Monroe before moving back to Jefferson. Joel and Mary Sellers Wood moved to Carroll County and are both buried there.

The Wards go back to the Boyds through the Aderholds.

The Ayers connect to the Sellers through the Paynes. Fleming Payne married Eveline Ayers in Franklin county, GA. Their son, William Jasper Payne married Mary Ann (Polly) Wood (dau of Joel and Mary Sellers Wood) in Monroe County, Tenn. Their son, Joseph Joshua Payne, married Louisa Elizabeth Boyd, my great-grandmother. They lived in Carroll County. I have a huge tree on Rootsweb. User name judyk.

Emma Peppers is driving me nuts.

Emma Peppers m. Ruben Fowler
Pat, Thank you for all your great research on the Peppers. I have just spent hours tracking the family of James and Stiry Peppers because several of the family trees (I know, I know, but it was all I had to go on) have their daughter Emma,as the one who married Ruben Fowler (son of Reuben and Frances Johnson Fowler). But, thanks to all of your research on this family, I can rule her out. My next best candidate was a Susan E. Peppers, daughter of Kelly Peppers and Rhoda Sweat. Do you have any idea who the Emma Peppers could be who married Ruben? I have started a Fowlers of Georgia and The South Facebook group and one of our new members is from this family. One of Reuben and Emmas's children married into the Attaway family.

Also, I'm confused about the gravestone of Reuben (1827-1889) being here in Barrow County instead of at Appalachee in Gwinnett. I was almost sure Vicky had said he was in Gwinnett. Maybe one day that mystery will be cleared up.

Again, thanks for all the terrific info.
