I've lived in Acushnet, MA. since 1958 and have always been interested in photography and history so having a hobby that combines the two is great.|
I'm a 2nd generation American on both sides of my family with both sets of grandparents arriving in New Bedford, MA after 1900.
My parents, David Pimental and Norma S. Pimental, maternal grandparents, Harry #39060089 and Bertha (Baumeister) Settele #39060089, plus maternal aunts and uncles, Louis H. Settele #39060184 and his wife, Kathleen “Kay” Higham #39060231 and Harry Settele Jr #39059970 and his wife, Mary Anna Josefek #39060037, are at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford so I started adding to the entries there to aid others researching their genealogy and got hooked on photographing stones and adding to the data on FAG.
Since 2012 I've been concentrating on Rural Cemetery which is also the final resting place for my paternal grandparents, Manuel Dias Pimental Jr #41299437 and Valentina (Mello) Pimental #41294992, Grand-aunt and Godmother, Amelia “Millie” Monteiro #41294450, paternal great-grandparents, Manuel #41294221 and Rosa (Botelho) de Mello #41294307 and Grand-aunt Beatrice “Bea” Edwards #41294366.
Please don't hesitate to ask for a transfer of any relative of yours that I've entered, no matter how distantly related. I'm not related to most of the memorials I've created and always like to see them in the care of a family member.
I post most of my headstone photos to Ancestry in my FAG Research tree under my Ancestry user name "trinka5364". I also post my photos to Ancestry when I find that I've photographed stones that already have photos posted in FAG.
Anyone who wishes to use these headstone photos for non-commercial purposes should have the courtesy to give credit to the photographer when copying: ex: Photo by D J Pimentel, or copy & paste the Find A Grave Memorial #.
The flowers I leave on memorials are mostly shots I've taken of flowers in my garden or ones I took when visiting other gardens on vacation.

thanks for noticing the year of birth discrepancy. I had made a typo, the G.R.1 said 1833 as does the stone. I so appreciate your collaboration and your pictures!

Tried to submit an edit to correct spelling of name, but see you have already submitted something so I can't and don't know what it is?

Re: Erastus Coombs 3065639 .... the reason I didn't see the previous entry was the spelling of Coombs is incorrect. The contributor spelled it Coombe which is why I didn't see it when I checked for Coombs. I will submit a correction to him and delete my memorial when he fixes his.

Pretty much looks like you've got all the bases covered. Arabella's age certainly seems to bounce around.
- Mass Town & Vital Rcds, married George Webster, July 11,1849, Age 19 (1830?)
- Mass Death Rcds, Died 29 Oct 1903, Age 68 (1835?)
- Mass Marriage Rcds, married William Coombs 5 Apr 1890, Age 52 (1838?)
- 1860 Census, Age 32 (1828?)
- 1870 Census, Age 39 (1831?)
- 1900 Census, Age 65, b. May 1835 (1835?)
I agree that some people will nit pick you to death on dates/documentation ... I surmise that many of them have nothing better to do in their lives than complain/criticize. We're all volunteers and do the best we can. I feel that some info is better than none ... you've added some good contingency comments. I've often wished that Find A Grave had an "about/@" option when entering dates. I'm slowly working my way through the Coombs' with "Unknowns" and filling in the blanks. I'm retired so it keeps my mind engaged?
All the best from hot & steamy Florida,

I used the 1900 U.S. Census, New Bedford, Ward 4, 27 Onion St
- Arabella S Coombs b. May 1835
- William Coombs b. Jul 1839
"Arabella" is spelled "Arravella" on the census, but in those days the census taker often put it down how he heard it.
Hope it helps,
