Bio and Links
Bio Photo I kept putting this short bio off, but after doing photo requests for people and "meeting them" through their bios, I decided it was time. I am a retired school teacher who loves doing genealogy work and exploring cemeteries. I love the concept of Find A Grave where people in different areas are so willing to help each other with photos. When my husband and I are fulfilling photo requests, we sometimes add more stones to a cemetery. I am always willing to "give these up" to family members who can add more information. Just ask.

RE: Photographs for Annie Blake & Merritt Barnes
I forgot to address the other part of your message. It is possible that the Walter Blake that you found is the brother of Annie Blake. She did have a brother by that name but I have very limited information on him. I do know he would have been born around the same time as the dates you provided me. Now it's got me interested in finding more information about this person.

RE: Photographs for Annie Blake & Merritt Barnes
Hi Barbara,
The obituary would be fantastic. I do not have that piece of information. What a terrific addition that would be to my collection on my family. I greatly appreciate your offer and look forward to what you can find on Merritt.
As for Annie, I have an obituary that I've found here on FindaGrave.com. It appears that whoever created her page used the obit as the narrative. I believe she died elsewhere so it would make some sense that you couldn't find her's in the same place.
Thanks again,
Ashley Creech Cox

Thank you so much for getting some terrific headstone shots. These are my GG Grandparents and I'm always looking for more things to connect me to them. I'm so pleased to have these pictures added to Find a Grave. Especially that you went out in the snow!

RE: MEHRENS
Hi Barb: I'm not sure if I ever replied to your inquiry regarding the Mehrens plot with the dates 1841-1903. My research shows that would be Claus Mehrens' plot as those are his birth and death dates. He did have a son, Peter Mehrens (1876-1953), but Peter is buried in Omaha at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. It may be there was a misunderstanding and they used Peter's name in their records. I'm assuming (heaven forbid!) Peter was probably the informant and/or purchaser of the plot for his parents since he was the oldest son.

Let me know if you have any further questions and thank you for your diligence!!

Barbara-thank u so much for adding the inf. from the Cemetery assoc., looks like they paid for it about 8 months after he was buried. Back think $5.00 would have been alot.
Thanks again--Nancy

May I use the photo that you contributed to the Find A Grave Memorial page for Ralph Kenyon, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)
You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.

RE: MEHRENS
Hello Barbara!

His parents names were Dorothea Marie Schroeder (1854-1920) Mehrens and Claus Mehrens (1841-1903). Knowing the headstones can be incorrect, these dates are close, it probably is his parents. I have an obituary for Dorothea (none for Claus) which only states she was buried in Avoca.

I really appreciate the extra effort on your part. Your doing a wonderful thing for so many.

Kay

Yes I knew the name was different in the paper but all the other information is right. I just left the obit as it was written.
