I have reason to believe that this gentleman was my grandfather's, John Leger of China, TX, brother or cousin. My grandfather passed away in 1956 #83519613, and "Uncle Zack" as he was known, came by to see my grandmother, who was still living at the time, and I was fortunate enough to be there and meet him. I remember him telling us his wife's name was Margaret and recall a son mentioned named Tommy or Thomas, and that he lived in Houston. Is there any chance you are acquainted with the family and could put us "in touch"? Thanks for your help in this matter. James Fiedler Find A Grave # 47248600

I'm hoping you can help me and straighten out my tree. I have a Jonathan Hardy Smith , son of Joseph Duncan Smith and Susanna Boze. Jonathan married a Judith Gibbs. The memorial you have for James Hargrove Smith has my Jonathan's exact birth and death dates. Some people on their tree have my Jonathan married twice and Judith is one of the marriages. I'd like to have the correct information on my tree , especially the name. Can you clear up the confusion PS. my dna just matched me to a direct descendant of Jonathan Hardy Smith so I'd really like to get this figured out. THANK YOU Cindy Bennett

You're more than welcome for the info. I'm connecting all the family members from my Smith line. I had my info posted since 2002 on gencircles and it disappeared but I'm thinking this will reach more people in the long run.
|BF||Susan Overstreet Russell|
Hi - I've been trying to 'track down' Susan Overstreet Russell's 1st husband - Mr. Dickens. Some oral records indicate his name was Isaac Newton Dickens, but I'm inclined to think it was Jesse Newton Dickens. Below is one of the transcribed marriage records on Familysearch.org
Name Jessy Newton Dickens
Event Type Marriage
Event Date 05 Aug 1869
Event Place Smith, Tennessee,
Spouse's Name Susan E Overstreet
Spouse's Gender Female
On the 1870 Smith Co Census with Susan, he is J.N. Dickens - age 21.
I think this might be Jesse Newton Dickens - below***.
1850 Jackson Co TN Census
Bopy Dickens M 27 Tennessee (this is Bryant Dickens)
Delaney Dickens F 26 Tennessee #20718245
Lewis Dickens M 6 Tennessee #71010700
Tiny Dickens F Tennessee #178906172
>>Jesse Dickens M 2 Tennessee ***
Rebecca Dickens F 75 North Carolina
Another detail that makes me think this is 'the' Jesse that married Susan Overstreet is their son, Rev James Bransford Dickens - #71010155.
The Jesse in the 1850 census is a brother of Lewis Bransford Dickens - #71010700. Susan and Jesse named their son after Jesse's older brother. ??? Lewis was also a minister per his death record. Both are buried in the same Dickens cemetery.
What do you think?
