Bio and Links
Bio Photo I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc!
NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing.

Quotes worth remembering:

"Live your life so that your memories make you smile." rej

"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

Hi Richard
Thanks so much for the pic! Very much appreciated!! When you have opportunity could you please edit it so it's not sideways? That happens to me too ... Again I thank you very kindly for taking your time.

FAG Memorial #'s for update
"Sir Hi Richard",
I do think it is a very gallant service you are providing in your "retirement!" Thank you very much for the time and effort you spend in researching and setting up so many family memorials that benefit whole families, and the individuals who are seeking to learn more.
I appreciate your response regarding updates to memorials of certain family members of mine. (And thank you for making them for my grandmother, Elizabeth Cowan Arney.)
The Find A Grave Memorial #'s I would like to update, also, are:
William Walter Hines #29956720
William Hogan Johnson #51909950

Thanks so much, Kay J. Mann

PS So - if I wish to up date other memorials, may I make a request, giving the memorial # - and you will allow the edit?

Thank you so much for taking their headstone photo. I only knew that my great great grandfather was buried in Gaston County, but I had no idea where--and I didn't know if either had a headstone in place. Thank you so much.

Hi Doc,

Thanks so much for the grave marker photos. I really appreciate it.

Thanks, also, for all the wonderful "volunteer" work (or perhaps more of a "labor of love") on Find A Grave. Most don't know that none of us are "paid" employees but do this to preserve the memory of those who have gone before us.

You have helped me on several occasions with my Beauchamp & Davis cousins in Gaston County & I thank you so much!

Best Regards,

Mary (Contributor #47792069)

RE: Gambles in Turbeville
No, don't need to be combined, seems that a portion of the families created Turbeville Southern Methodist and from what I understand, were given the portion of land across the dirt drive as "their" cemetery.
