In 2016 I finalized work to open Alabama's first (and I believe only) green or natural burial ground. I also, with the help of the Institute for Justice (ij.org) fight two Alabama funeral laws that restricted people from caring for their own at the time of death and free enterprise. The first law changed was the Alabama law restricting the sale of funeral merchandise in the State to Alabama licensed funeral directors. The second changed the law that stated that every funeral, interment, or memorial service had to be under the direct supervision and management of an Alabama licensed funeral director. Now, families can take complete control of the body of their deceased loved one (baring and highly contagious disease) for home funerals.
