I started doing genealogy back in the early 1980's, researching the Jewett (my mothers' maiden name) Family in the Wright County, Minnesota area. That was back before the computer, when it was door to door, phone calls, or US mail. I gathered 18 notebooks full of information and now am slowly getting that information listed on Ancestry.com. |
I started back on my family research in February 2011 after retiring in January of that year.
Unfortunatly, most of the people I talked to back in the 1980's can now only be found on Find A Grave.
To any of you doing family research, I suggest you get to the oldest family members first and get as much information as you can before it is lost to time. Some of their stories (not always true) are interesting and more importantly, informative to your research.
Since starting back up this year, I have made some awesome discoveries thanks to the web. Lots of it I would have never found had it not been for the internet.
Find A Grave is an awesome site, people helping people. I can't say enough good things about it.
I live near the little town of Nimrod, Minnesota in Wadena County located in west central Minnesota. I used to travel the whole northeastern part of the state in my work and drove past many cemeteries, not ever knowing what I was missing out on. Maybe that's a good thing, I would have never got my work done!
To all of you who have helped me, I thank you sincerely and will do my best to help as many folks as I can in their research.
If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them.

You may use them on Ancestry.com, please be nice and give credit.
PLEASE USE EDIT TAB ON MEMORIAL FOR REQUESTING TRANSFERS!!!
I am working on several cemeteries trying to fill in as much information as possible and trying to make as many links as possible. I therefore am sending out a lot of correction requests. If you don't want, or don't know how to make the corrections, please just transfer the memorial to me with a note you want it back and I will make the corrections and additions and transfer it back to you.

|Footprints in the Sand ~ (Linda)||info on PC Adams mother|
I noticed that you had listed the following in P C ADAMS Find A Grave site and was wondering where you obtained the information?
Andrew Jackson Adams & Melissa (Curry) Adams
Andrew Jackson ADAMS was my Grandfather and I had heard that Elizabeth 'Eliza' Jane Pickens was PC Adams mother. There is a possibility that AJ ADAMS was married to Melissa and that would account where Phillip Curry ADAMS aka PC ADAMS got his middle name as was the custom back then to give the child the mother's maiden name somewhere in their own.
Would love to hear from you regarding this.

Funny where some of these questions of Find A Grave show up, I by chance stopped by this site and here is a list of people asking questions.
If you remember, you put Buckey ADAMS on Phil ADAMS Find A Grave site along with other information that you had found. It is the family story that the boy was born with half his head eatten away from the disease and did not live. I doubt there will be any mention of it in any papers, I think it was a matter of mother has child that was not husband's and on and on.

Hi..just a note to let you know that her obit contained a few errors... Her daughter Margaret Haskins had a bit of the history wrong.. Mary Jane and John were married in Brockville, Ont. on 26 Nov. 1877 according to the marriage register and the family moved to Smiths Falls several years later when John J was transferred there by the railroad. Mary Jane's surname was Clute, not Degnan...Degnan was her mother's maiden name...Margaret Degnan. She was most likely born in Brockville as her father Isaac Clute worked there often as a stone mason who also had a residence across the river in Morristown, NY which made her Ontario birth likely. Also, the Minnesota Death index has her death 2 weeks later...I can't explain that difference. I have a copy of the death certificate from which I noticed that Margaret Haskins supplied the info. I'm still trying to find out when John J's father arrived in Canada and acquired the farm on Potspoon Lake, in Bedford Twp. Ontario.

Following I paste from your bio: 'If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them.'
I'm still feeling rather sad that you did not transfer three children of John and Christina Hanson as I ask asked for but just went ahead and linked them. You never indicated that you were related.

You are very welcome.
Are you related to the Carlile/Blakes in Deer River Pine Ridge Cemetery, Itasca county, Minnesota? Do you do genealogy?
Please remove the newspaper obit. from the picture area. I have typed it into the bio. Also I really don't like to post obits without newspaper verification.

Wow! Think we have it right now - if you remove the entry for Robert Isaiah Hedges in Nimrod. Thanks for all the work you put into this.

For many years I contributed very heavily to Ancestry & I when I could not afford their rates, I closed my subscription. Down to the wire, they make big bucks off of folks contributions. I don't mind sharing & helping others but I refuse to contribute to Ancestry.
FIND A GRAVE IS TOPS!!!
Keep up the good work with Find A Grave
