RE: Pollie Strickland
I know, right? I just re-visited her 1900 census and it lists her as age five so that would place her being born abt 1895 not 1899. Just theorizing here but the errors like this as you know are usually human errors -- maybe Momma knew but a neighbor answered or maybe census taker misunderstood. A stranger theory yet is that she had an older sister by same name who died and then she was born and was given same name - not entirely unusual or impossible. But more likely the info on death cert is from someone grieving so that could cause errors or someone so much younger they are guesstimating. Thank you for your work as a Find A Grave volunteer. Living so far from NC I would be hard pressed to have access to this data were it not for you and fellow Find A Grave volunteers.

Oh - sorry, was working with a bunch of "Matt..." names, and I guess they all just started running together.

Powell family
I saw you name associated with the Moore Cemetery, Halifax County, North Carolina, USA

I am looking for Powell relatives that came through NC then emigrated to KY. On Ancestry, I have: Richard Andrew Powell Sr. 1710-1767/Va-Halifax NC; Nathaniel George Powell Sr 1730-1777/Va-Edgecombe NC; Melling Willoughby Powell 1755-1830/Edgecombe NC-Henderson KY; Capt. Lazarus Whitehead Powell 1777-1869/Halifax NC-Henderson KY. All Powells after this are in KY.

Do any of these ring a bell?

William Wickliffe
Capt Powell is my 3rd great grandfather

My father
Thank you for what you have done. A few years back I sent virtual flowers to my fathers grave that I have not been able to visit for over 30 years. He is missed and loved. Again thank you and God Bless America
