Yes you are correct. I had her listed correctly on the master index but not on findagrave. Correction has been made. Thank you.
|Robert DeVowe||RE: Pierre Michel Lefebvre|
Hi N. H.
Yes, they are our ancestors. I descend through Ignace's brother Michel. I did the digging a long time ago. For these early Lefebvre's I used both Tanguay and Jette. Both are genealogical dictionaries of the French Candians from the beginning to 1730. Tanguay is the older of the two. Tanguay is on Ancestry.com. Jette is too new to be anywhere except in libraries. I also used "Lioselle" marriage index. (I live about 30 miles from one of the largest LDS Family History Centers) That is where I did my hunting. After that it was working with the parish records. When I started this, there was almost nothing on line, today there are trees that I use for reference and find they are pretty accurate. Also, with Ancestry, the indexed parish records are on line. ( have to deal with miss spellings, dit names and miss indexing and transcriptions errors.)
Are you also N H Welch? Just got contacted. In case you are, there was a question about the burial. As I understand, only the wealthiest could afford stones, most got wooden markers. I hear the next question before you ask. The Quebec records can be death records, but in reality they are burial records. Therefore with every record you have a burial location. The church cemetery. Many, if not most are now in the Find A Grave cemetery list. The church names can be searched for on the net (in the early years into the 1800's there was mostly one church per town. Things are different now.) , but with an Ancestry subscription, that info is in the parish record images.
I hope this helps.
I've come across some biography for Samuel. Would you be interested?
