**Please send any requests through the "Suggest a Correction" tab on the memorial in question. This helps to ensure the correct memorial is transferred to the correct account.**|
I currently am in St Clair Shores, Michigan, although I try to make it home to Belton, South Carolina as often as possible.
When I'm not working on genealogy or in cemeteries, I homeschool my son, play in my (small) garden and harbor a nearly unhealthy love for old houses.
I welcome any corrections, additions or duplicate notifications and will try to get them corrected as soon as possible - please use the "Edit" tab to make all requests, as that helps to ensure I know exactly what memorial you are referencing.
It's important to remember that the purpose of Find A Grave is to find a grave. Click on the "Help with Find A Grave" link on the left hand side of the page to review naming conventions and what to do if you do not know a persons burial location. Memorials that follow the naming conventions allow a person to be found by their friends and family in addition to helping prevent duplicate memorials from being created.
Please realize that those who spend their own time to clean up errors found in memorials are doing so out of respect to those who have been memorialized.
Remember - it's not about you, it's about the people who have come before you.

Thank you for looking into this. The more I look at it,I see that there are some facts which support Thomas J Cox as being my ancestor Tyler Jefferson Cox.However, there are still some troubling points. If I look at Thomas J Cox's death certificate, I see that the informant listed is Mrs. A L Campbell. One of his daughter's was Maude Rokeppa Cox who was married to Austin Lee Campbell. This certainly fits into the facts. In his dad's will, he is called Tyler J. Cox, administrator and Tyrey J Cox, administrator.(Note: the references to Tyrey are very difficult to read due to the poor hand writting of the clerk.)
1860 US Census, Jefferson Cox, age 3
1870 US census, T J Cox, age 13
1900 US Census, Tyra J. Cox, age 42
1910 US Census, Tirey J Cox, age 52
In the 1938 Greenville SC City directory, it lists his wife as the widow of T Jefferson Cox.
There is a document compiled in the 1960's called The Anderson County Book of the Dead. It has no mention of this Thomas J Cox's grave at Whitefield. (Note: There is another Thomas Jefferson Cox who has a different age, different wife and burial place. I do not want to confuse him.) The fact that there is now a gravestore at Whitfield makes me wonder if the marker was added at a later time from when the Book of the Dead was compiled.
I now am beginning to wonder if the "Thomas" was somehow recorded incorrectly, hence the c of d, and then transposed onto his grave marker.
I gues I many never get this one resolved. I have contacted two of his descendants who only knew of him as Jefferson Cox.Do you have any further suggestions as to how I can resolve this?
This does not have a bearing on the mystery of his name, but my g grandfather and Tyler were brothers who married two sisters.

I am the gg grandson of John A J Cox who is buried at Whitefield Baptist Church Cemetery. You have Thomas J Cox listed as his son. Can you tell me the basis for this information?
I have a copy of John A J Cox's will which lists his heirs. I can not find any of his sons named Thomas J. However, I do have one of his sons named Tyler Jefferson Cox. Tyler is the administrator of John's will. Sometimes within the will he is also called Tyre (Tyray?) J Cox.
I have had trouble finding info about Tyler. I suspect that later he was know as Jefferson Cox. I am even unable to find his death certificate. If you can help me sort this out, I would be very grateful.
Thank you and best regards.

Hi Courtney, I am wondering if you would please transfer William Lovern (135950947) to me (49119740). He is my great great uncle and I am trying to link all my family members together. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for all of the hard work you do with the memorials. I am a descendant of the Willingham family from Belton. Would it be possible to transfer them (as I come across them) to my care? I will start documenting them as I go so please bear with me. Also, I saw where you are in St. Clair Shores... I used to live just up the road in Mount Clemens as I was stationed at Selfridge ANG. Small world!!
Thank you so much,
Was Jacob next to Herman Kovansky? Thanks.
Thanks for your help.
Send me your email address to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are having email issues, I can just do a reply and that'll take care of it.
