Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my husband's and my family's histories for several years now. Whereas his ancestry in America dates back to the 1600's (and even before that because of his Native American roots), my ancestors only started arriving here from Europe in the mid 1800's.

Kuykendall relatives
Hi. I'm wondering how we're related. I see you've uploaded a bunch of my Kuykendall photos I made available on the internet. I descend from Harvey Dillard Kuykendall.

Cicatelli and DiMuro
Hello again! Here's a quick question: What do you know about the Cicatelli family? Sometimes spelled Chiccadelli, Chickadel, Ciccatell, and a host of other phonetic spellings. A man named Domenico (Thomas) Cicatelli married a certain Antonietta DiMuro in 1904. The interesting thing about this is that Antonietta was living with the DePriscos in Delaware at that time. My grandparents' marriage certificate was witnessed by Angelo Cicatelli and Margaret DePrisco. Angelo Cicatelli was supposedly married to a Maria Teresa DePrisco, born 1863.

So all this makes me wonder if Antonietta was related to my great grandmother, Filomena DeMuro, and exactly how was Maria Teresa DePrisco connected to the family. I keep thinking that Alfonso had to have some sisters among all those brothers, but I can't find proof of that.
Thanks! Helen

RE: Clippings and the 1900 census
OK, I think I've got it figured out. This Frank Briscoe who was killed by the trolley car at age 8 or 9 was the son of Angelo and Margaret DePrisco, and his real name was Alfonso DePrisco.

I've been newspaper diving!
Hello again! Can you tell me who was living at 1902 W. 8th Street in Wilmington in 1902-1903??

There was a little boy named Frank Briscoe, 8 or 9 years old, and he was run over by a trolley and died. His real name was Alfonso DePrisco. I think this would make him a son of one of my grandfather's brothers. I'm just trying to pin down this Briscoe thing!

RE: Clippings and the 1900 census
Check your email, I sent you those clippings about Carmine and the brothers' feud. Also, I wanted to talk about the 1900 census again. If the Frank and Teresa Briscoe I found are not my greatgrandfather and his wife, then where is Francesco DePrisco on the 1900 census? Since he died din 1904, he should be there someplace! Also, I wanted to find a death certificate for this so-called Teresa Briscoe (probably after 1904), but I can't find one. There is nothing under Briscoe, or any form of DePrisco that I can find. She must be somewhere in the records. You would think that she would be living with one of her sons after Francesco died, but I can't find her anywhere. It's interesting to see on the 1900 census that she says there were 8 children, with 5 living in 1900. That would fit with the five sons who were living in 1900 -- Alfonso, John, Carmine, Antonio, and Angelo. Please let me know if you got the email with the clippings.

Best regards,

RE: Clippings and the 1900 census
Hi, again. Thanks for your reply. I have the clippings on my hard drive, I'll try to get them to you without having to go through I only had a trial membership and canceled after a week because I didn't want to pay all that money.

OK, second order of business: I have found a Frank Briscoe on the 1900 census. His wife is Teresa Briscoe, also born 1838. The lived in Wilmington, DE. I am pasting the abstract of it here. Those people listed at the bottom are all designated as "boarders" by the census. There are no relatives in the household. My obvious question is -- Who are these people? Is Frank Briscoe my great grandfather? If so, who is Teresa? Looks like she is his first and only wife. Francesco DePrisco died in 1904. Can't find anything further on Teresa, like a death cert would be helpful, just to see who was the informant! Please give me your thoughts on this. All these years I've been looking for a Filomena DeMuro. I don't know.

RE: Hello cousin
Hi, again, and thanks for writing. My mother always told me that her name was Filomena DeMuro, and I was never given the impression that she ever came to the USA. However, on one census (1900, I think), I found Francesco DePrisco with a wife named Teresa, and I've got to wonder who the heck she was? I can't find any marriage for Francesco in this country, so I don't know if she was a second wife or exactly what. Or perhaps her name was Filomena Teresa, and she is the original Filomena DeMuro. I don't know.

Also, did you know about the younger brother named Carmine who was locked up at Farnhurst for over 12 years and died there? There is an amazing story that was published in the Chester Times about a fight between Alfonso and his brother John over Carmine's death. I never heard these stories before. I have the clippings, if you want me to send them to you. Just send me your address, email or snail mail.

Thanks so much for writing!

RE: Hello cousin
Hi, again. I was wondering if you knew anything about Francesco DePrisco's wife (mother of Alfonso DePrisco and brothers). I understand her name was Filomena DeMuro, but I have no information on her. Please help, if you can.

RE: Hello cousin
Hi, again, cousin. Thanks for your response of a few weeks ago. Life gets crazy here too, so I understand. My belated condolences on the loss of your mother. Losing a parent is always a difficult thing to go through. I hope things are getting better now.

So, having established that we are cousins, I was wondering if you had any information on Alfonso DePrisco's parents? His father was Franco or Francesco, as you know (our common ancestor), but I know nothing about him. Was he here in the US? Did he die here? Where is he buried? And what about Filomena DeMuro? I have absolutely nothing on her either. Hoping you can help me with some of this!

Thanks again for responding.

All the best,
Helen Tracey
