Hello To All...Finding our ancestors has become a passion in our lives and we truely enjoy it. It all started a few yrs ago when my husband and I realized we hardly knew anything about our family history. We were soon on a conquest.... |
We also soon found out how important it is to have people out there who can help us find our families stones that we ourselves are unable to go visit and see. Thank all of you for what you do! Becoming a photo voluteer is our way of helping others as much as they have helped us.
My husband and I, along with our beloved little dog Sassy, truely enjoy galavanting around the countrysides visiting cemeteries and finding stones of our loved ones and adding to this wonderful site.
We try and do the best we can to fullfill all and any photo requests for Mahaska County, Iowa and have a great time doing it! At the same time we have tried to make sure that there are pictures and maps of all listed cemeteries for Mahaska County along with others we visit in other counties. We have recently relocated to the Marion County area so visiting the cemeteries in the new county will be our mission.
Our closest immediate family lines are Welch, Knupp, Knedler, Barnett, Rains, Saylor, Eakins, Brown, DeWitt and Ellis. We do most of our exploring in Southeastern Iowa and Northern Missouri.
We do add "non" family names from time to time that have not already been posted, so that people can more easily find their relatives.
I am more than willing to add any personal info or link relatives for these memorials if they are not your "DIRECT" relative within the 4 generations per the find a grave guidelines. I firmly believe in following the rules set by find a grave (due to some very unpleasant prior circumstances in the past)so I do my best to comply to them for transferring memorials.
So...duplicating an entry to add your own information or adding biographical information in the flower sections (which is a no-no!) will not be necessary.
Please see the Find A Grave guidelines for this type of activity!!!
I have found that requesting to manage a memorial is "NOT" the important issue here in Find A Grave....its getting information put on our family memorials that is important!
If you want multiple monuments photographed, please take the time to request a photo for each person rather than attach a message to one request asking for multiple photos or "everyone else in that cemetery with the same surname." Its easier "not to miss" names by printing a list and saves on gas by not having to go back because you missed someone!
I also give permission for any of my pictures to be used for geneology purposes. Not for recreating and duplicating memorials.
Good Luck To All Of You!

Thank you for correcting his name and adding link to Frances. However, you will need an edit to put their marriage date in as 1923 or it shows him as her first husband. He was her second husband.

I was looking for what happened to my great-great-uncle Thomas Polson's wife Frances Elizabeth Garringer. I found her memorial in a cemetery with her second husband. After much research I finally found him in census records. His name was actually Cary R. Hilliard and he was born in Ohio.
Thank you for the transfer of Rachel Nicholson.

Margaret Duncan Richmond. I noticed you created the Find A Grave for Margaret. Can you tell me are you related to her?

Thanks, Sharon. I will delete my memorial. Sorry to make extra work for you when there was already one on Find A Grave. Sure wish Find A Grave had a fuzzy search!

Find A Grave Memorial# 166984342 is his wife. Would you mind adding your photo to it also? Thanks.

Sharon, I sent you a transfer request and please ignore. You have added the same information that I have. Thank you for everything you do on Find A Grave!

Hi Sharon I have posted some info on Find a Grave but not sure how to do this. Ora William Barnett is my husband's grandfather, who was a child of William T. and Amanda Barnett, we go up every year and decorate some. Ora had 1 brother who lived to be an adult and I wondered how to get him listed as a child of W.T & Amanda. The brother was Isaac Francis Barnett born 27 Jan. 1895 died in May of 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, they also had three children who didn't not live long I have names and dated the family provided over the years. I wonder if they aren't also buried in Washington but have no way to find that out. There are no markers for them just FYI Lillie Francis 8 Aug. 1884 - 12 Sept. 1884, Ira L. 22 April 1886 - 19 March 1887, Violet M. 11 May 1889 - 27 Jan. 1895. Wouldn't it be wonderful to find all of these missing relatives. Thanks for posting
