I've been researching off and on for almost 40 years (a third grade assignment gone wild I guess). I love finding the "rest of the story" from oral history accounts of our family.|

I don't suppose this is anything that can be fixed, but I just wanted to ask for clarity, or see if maybe you have a record that I don't. I have not found a document that states what the "L" in Nora L Hill Tidwell's name stands for. However, the name found on her tombstone, unfortunately, is a misspelled nickname for a name that was fairly common in 1800's Appalachia, but I have not seen past 1900. The name is Lucretia. It was customary to nickname girls who had an -a at the end or their name by changing it to -ie or -ey. Sometimes the first one or two syllables would be dropped. So it appears that Nora's middle name may have been Lucretia, and she was nicknamed Lucretie. Sometimes it was also shortened to just Cretia. The spelling on her tombstone is how it would have been pronounced "Lou- CREE- dee". Looks like you may be a descendant, so I just wanted to pass that along. Have a great day!

Hi Debbie-I've posted a picture to fill your request for Margaret Hurlburt (note spelling of last name). She is buried with her husband M. Horace (died May 12, 1923). If you create a page for him let me know and I'll post the picture there too...Mary

Do you know who Nora L Hill Tidwell's parents were? I am looking for the daughter or other children of Amanda Jan Ritchie Hill Yandell. Amanda is also buried in the same cemetery and I am wondering if that is the reason that she is buried in this cemetery. She is supposed to have died in Sabastian County, Arkansas, but buried in Spiro Oklahoma. She was, according to what I have found, married to my great grandfather, Samuel Yandell, and although I know that he died in Texas in 1938, I have been unable to find where he was buried, or why he was in Texas and his wife was elsewhere, or perhaps she was also in Texas and returned after his death.--there is always something more to learn. I am even wondering if there was another Samuel Yandell, but have not found one in Logan County, Arkansas, Thanks, Loneta Boyer
