I'm doing genealogy on James Rogers b.1846, AR and Jane Beardsley Rogers, b.1851, TX. They were m.1868 Los Angeles County. My Grandfather John Calhoun Rogers was born Dec 1869 in Duarte, El Monte Township, Los Angeles county. John C. Rogers, d.27 Nov 1953 in Wasco, Kern County, CA and is buried in Union cemetery, Bakersfield, Kern, CA, along with his wife Lura, d. 8 Dec 1949.I started a family tree when one of my cousins died in 2007. I knew my maternal Grandfather, Rogers, had been born in Duarte California and that my maternal Grandmother, Helsley, had been born in Missouri. My Grandmother Lura Helsley's family, (father Joseph Gilbert Helsley 1851-1919; mother Hattie Johnson Helsley 1861-1927) migrated to CA between 1884 and 1887. Cala Helsley was the first of the children born in CA, 1887. There is a Helsley family plot in Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, CA. I am currently (Feb 2013) working on the Rogers line of Andrew Rogers b 1827, North Carolina, d. 1848 Conway County, Arkansas.I am also working on Family Trees for my father's family, Trew/Ellis of Meigs county TN and the George Miles Innis family of MI.
