From "How Green Was My Valley"

"I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come.

I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond.

And their eyes were my eyes.

As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever.

Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end.

And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link.

And we found that we were one, born of Woman, Son of Man, made in the Image, fashioned in the womb by the Will of God, the Eternal Father."

I am George's wife. I would like for his memorial to be placed in my care so that I can make some changes and additions to his memorial. Thank you.

RE: Sara Schmidt
Hi Terri,

So glad to help...I had these photos of the Schmidt family for a few years, just don't know why I did not post them earlier...I guess just forgetful or lazy! :-). I also made edits to a few other Schmidt memorials, but have not gotten any confirmation of acceptance yet.

I think you mean Loschen in the Hildreth/Franklin County area. My Dad's niece/my cousin married a Loschen, but we won't talk about that story, LOL.

I was looking at when Olive passed and now I remember well when Aunt Evelyn came up to the retirement community to visit mom and remember her telling us that Olive had passed away.

Indeed it is a small world.

I did some creeping on facebook and found your page. I see your father was born in Franklin county the same year as my dad. It would not have surprised me if they probably knew of each other and your dad no doubt knew my uncles Warner, Charles and Arnold Lundeen and probably my aunt Grace and my mother Amorita.

There are still some Evers around Krautville I'm sure. I remember a Diana Evers who was a little younger than I and no doubt some of your relation. Foxy blonde, LOL.

I see your mother was Bertus's sis.

Yes a small world.

You probably noted that I kind of run against the grain in this part of the world with me being a dumb Dane not a stupid Swede, although my mother's side was of Swedish decent. My paternal grandparents were born in Denmark but my maternal granparents were born in NE but their parents were Swedish immigrants.

Interesting chat. Thank you.

I'm sure we have a lot of people known in common.

My father was born and raised in Franklin Cty. just NW of Upland and was a rural mail carrier for 31 years out of Axtell.

As mentioned my mother was a Lundeen and went to high school in Wilcox but graduated from Holdrege because of losing an entire year with sickness.

I remember Sister Julianne Holt very well.

Olive Bebensee was a close friend of my Aunt Evelyn Lundeen and Aunt Edna Lundeen-Sheffield. I remember both her and Bertus.

Thanks for the info.

RE: Eleanor Habben Anderson
Hi Terri,

I was just looking around my hometown (Axtell) bone orchard, where my parents, brother and sister are interred. I was looking at the obits for Eleanor and her husband, but didnít recognize them. After reading Eleanorís obit, I understand why.

I noticed the obit showed Franklin County. as her birthplace, which I would think would be quite accurate, as the info given to the funeral director was no doubt from a family member who certainly should know, ergo the correction request. Below is a link to the 1910 census and you will see that her family was living in Franklin County (Lincoln Township) at the time, which makes it very possible that was the location of her birth in 1913. The 1920 info doesnít seem to be available, not that it would prove anything unless it showed them still living in Franklin County. The 1930 census does show them living in Oneida Township, not in Mirage (Axtell). In fact, my mother was born in Oneida Township in 1919 and attended high school in Wilcox. Today, my cousin lives on the Lundeen home place, where my mother was born, and it is in the Axtell school district and has been for many, many years.

Either way, she wasnít born in Axtell as listed if you said they lived in the Wilcox area and no doubt was probably born at home on a farm.

It appears you have not been able to locate her parentsí graves either?

You will have to copy and paste the links to see the census info.

1910 Franklin County Census

1930 Kearney County

Iíll let you be the judge. Itís you memorial. Thank you.
