Bio Photo This site helps preserve our family histories and information that can fade with time from our cemeteries. I'm glad to be able to contribute and want to thank all of you who have contributed to this wonderful resource.
My husband deserves many thanks for driving me to cemeteries or stopping at ones we see along the road as we travel. He helps me watch where I step and for things that crawl. He has walked many of these cemeteries with me or patiently sat waiting for me.
My Great-Uncle Will walked the cemetery in Cherokee, Texas with me when I was in grade school and told me about some of the people buried there. I wish I had been old enough to realize how important that information was. He was from the time when the men in the community dug the grave for someone for free and it showed love, honor, and respect.
At that same time in my life my Grandmother told me not to step on the graves as a way to show respect. She was also an example of love and respect in her actions as I watched her clear the weeds from my Grandfather's grave by chopping them with a hoe.
If I've created a page for one of your family members or friends, I will respect your request and happily transfer the page to you. Please use the Edit tab on the page to request the transfer so all the information is available.

RE: Roxie Cemetery
Betty,
thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately that means he is not my great grandfather but at least he is now connected to his wife. Thanks for doing that, it will help someone I'm sure.

I'll keep looking!

Roxie Cemetery
Hi Betty!

First let me thank you (and your husband) for what you do. Running around photographing cemeteries. Do you live near the Roxie Cemetery? You photographed the tombstone of Joseph Branco Wilkinson (b 11/16/1822; d 9/12/1905; married 8/26/1847). These are the right dates for possibly being my great-grandfather but I can't be sure. All I know about his wife is that her name was "Emily J" and she was still alive in 1910, she was on the census living with her son. She was widow at that point. My question is, do you know if this Joseph Wilkinson had a wife buried next to him?

Thanks so much,
June

Re: BettyF
"BettyF" is an individual who uploads the funereal records of many, many families - especially those in Central Texas - and hoards them ... controls them.

Her profile reflects a person of compassion and sensitivity, who was brought up to respect her ancestors, and the places wherein which they rest.

This 'charity' does not extend to the families of others whose memorials she controls, on FindAGrave.com.

I am new to the website, and dealing with BettyF has broken my heart.

RE: Mary
My opinion: The marker for her husband William is not original to the time of his burial. They probably made a new marker for him to notify everyone about the school lot. They did not create one for her. Theron...

Re: BettyF
I never shared any new information with you about Jasper - only his photograph.

Shame on you.

Re: BettyF
Greetings,

This is an automated email letting you know that your recent edit for the Jasper Randolph (1826 - 1883) Find A Grave memorial has been declined.
General reason: This edit will remove accurate data.

Thanks for your input,

This upsets me greatly. Jasper very much was the son of John and Frances Cooper Randolph, via a strong paper trail. My late grandmother, Vera Whitley McCarty and many others, have been working on this line, for decades. The father of John remains the 'question mark.' Some strides have been made - and new avenues opened - through 'Y' and autosomal-DNA testing.

This truly breaks my heart. You were here first, and hold the power. If you truly believe that Jasper Randolph would wish you to manage his profile, then forge ahead, as you have done.

"This site helps preserve our family histories and information that can fade with time from our cemeteries."

Your "site" does nothing of the sort. When family members, who have been unfortunate enough to lag beh ind your efforts, seek to establish memorial pages for their loved ones and ancestors, they are in dire straits. Strangers. such as yourself. manage these pages at FindAGave.com. They have been encouraged by FindAGrave.com to build up the site with no monetary loss or gain, to themselves. Quite simply, they have been encouraged to copy funereal records and obituaries, and to upload them, here.

That's all.

You know that Jasper Randolph is my third-great-grandfather, and that FindAGrave will allow you to keep his entry to yourself .... one of the many thousands of others that you already habor.

I have tried to do so. You have refused. Please share your direct line from Jasper and Nancy Crabb Randolph.

Your Possession of Our Ancestral Legacy
You manage some 8027 memorials, while pushing aside the descendants of those who have passed before them - their precious ones and descendants.

You pride yourself in not stepping on the grave of an ancestor. I was taught to do the same. Have lunch at Saint Martin's in-the-Fields, in London, sometime, and reconsider your passions and beliefs.
