I only respond to fag messages from this point on December 30, 2018. when sending messages about a memorial, always list the name and memorial number in the top information line (Re:), that way, subject will always be there in the back and forth messages.

I add memorials of those I do not know, because their family may search for them one day and find them here, and be thankful someone took the time to add them and their edited obit info. F A G rules: Find A Grave takes no position on the appropriate timing of submitting such indexes (which means, there is no time table rules on adding memorials).

I started my walk through genealogy in the 1990s. Well before the days of computers, I sent out letters to long distance relatives sending postage paid envelopes for them to respond....back then phone calls were long distance, unlike today. I received many responses and kept them all in a brief case for years.

Many of the extended family that I got responses from have since passed away, but I have a piece of family history in the letters that I received.

Now, my goal is to connect relatives... starting with mine and venturing out with others, with time. I find this important for our future generations.
I believe you should be thorough when you add an obit and connect the dots by connecting relatives, especially those in the same cemetery.

If you find your name listed as a survivor in an obituary I have posted and would like your name removed, just ask. It will be removed promptly. I think obituaries add a lot of genealogical information (and genealogy research, I do edit to the next generation, deleting grandchildren and extended family) that if not captured will be lost, with cremation on the rise related to the cost of living, this may be all that remains to memorialize our loved ones. If a newspaper or funeral home has already published a name in an obituary, anonymity is already compromised, if that's what you want to call it (with the internet ruling our world, what is private anyway ?).

My newest quest with FAG is this: When I add a memorial and an obit, I first edit to the next generation only but most importantly, I research to see if obits are available but not listed for predeceased relatives. If I find obits, I send them to be added by the manager of those memorials.

If you want information added, I will happily add the info, simply send through the memorial through edits.
