Bio Photo Hello,
I'm a wife, mother of two, Mother in Law and new Grandma, keeper of the fur babies, and enjoy not only genealogy, but scrapbooking, amateur radio and traveling.

Areas of research include Southern Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan, Canada, Germany, Wales, and Cherokee Indian Nation in Oklahoma. I have been working on our family history.

I will post my photos to families and their memorials first. Family belongs to Family.... they are not just "numbers" to us. Any requests for transfers of relatives will be considered and most likely honored - but please do not try to grab every surname grouping, keep it as close to your direct line as possible.

Keeping the memories of our ancestors alive is something we should all strive for - our history is something to embrace!

Hi. I just found your memorial for Dave. Are you related to him? If so, how? This page was created after a memorial I created #60629163. I don't know how to merge them, but I've made corrections to mine reflecting the cemetery. Dave was married to my husband's sister for 10 years after his first wife died. His daughter's family has been part of our family since. Would really like to know if you are related because we know he was adopted and don't know anything about his family or his 1st wife's family. Thank you.

RE: Ephraim Silcox
Nope, I don't mind. When my book on all the Michigan survivors of Andersonville is finished, I intend to make all the research available on find-a-grave.

Ephraim Silcox
Hi Megan,

I am researching all Michigan survivors of Andersonville. Ephraim is a survivor of Andersonville only to perish in the Florence Stockade, South Carolina on 11/15/1864. If he has a stone in Taylor, it is most likely a cenotaph (a memorial stone to those buried elsewhere.) He was captured 8/4/1864 on Stoneman's Raid to Macon, Georgia where Stoneman split his command and surrendered half of it at Sunshine Church. The 8th Michigan Cavalry was mostly surrendered and taken to Andersonville. He probably lies in a burial trench in Florence, SC. [In September and October, the healthy inhabitants of Andersonville were moved to other prisons because they thought Sherman, once he had taken Atlanta, would march to free the POWs at Andersonville. Many went to Florence and Camp Lawton. The ones that were removed to Camp Lawton were returned Christmas Eve 1864 because it was in the path of Sherman's march. His men burned the unoccupied Camp Lawton stockade.] He is listed as being 15 when he enlisted on January 21, 1864. Making his birthdate in 1848. He is listed as 1 year old in the 1850 census and 12 in the 1860 census. - JOHN URSCHEL MICHIGAN BOYS IN BLUE

OK, Compare these 3 memorials. I don't know how you want to fix them but I think 2 is a dupe of either 1 or 3. Sorry for the confusion in my original edits. Judi

1. Hazel Martha Jontz Dick, wife of Harry, matches gravestone photo

2. Martha Hazel Jontz Dick, first and middle names reversed but with identical dates to Hazel Martha Jontz Dick. The gravestone photo is for Marie Hand Dick wife of Carl

RE: Re: Martha Dick
Sorry, I didn't get your first message.
I will try to retrace my steps. I was working with Ancestry so I will start there.

Also the gravestone photo on one of the memorials didn't match the name on the memorial but did match one of the other 3- that may have been an error by the photographer. It just appears that there are 3 memorials for 2 people.

I noticed you didn't create any of them but, since you manage 2 of the 3, you get to solve the mystery. I'll help as much as I can, Judi

Placed the headstone photo on Eileen's memorial # 179226730. She was my aunt if I may manage her memorial. Thank you, Mark (Dark)
