Alford Birto Jones Tombstone
Burial in the Erick Beckham Co OK cemetery. Would you have a chance to drop into the cemetery office to see if there is a "card" on this gentleman?

I'm trying to prove his death, and with NO tombstone, and the fact that we can't say the EXACT date of death, the county won't look for a death certificate.

This is for a high school friend of mine in San Antonio, Texas - and she is Alford Birto Jones' granddaughter (on her father's side).

Thanks for your answer and help!

Memorial transfers
Would you please transfer Alonzo Vaughan Baker #14384084 and Allena F. Baker #14384083 to me?
These are my grandparents. My mother, Alma Mae Baker Snider recently passed away and I'm trying to link all of them together. Plus, I'd like to be able to add their photo to their respective memorial.
Thank you so much!

RE: John Lewis Prather
Rites Held For John L. Prather
Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, 1944 for John L. Prather from the Christian church with Rev. L. A. Digby, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Mary Hamilton the organist, accompanied a picked choir. The choir sang appropriate hymns. Mrs. John Brauchi, soloist, sang “Some Day He’ll Make It Plain to Me.”

Pallbearers were John Brauchi, C. S. Borin, Buster McCown, J. D. Downey, Powell Hart and Walter Hale.

Honorary pallbearers chosen were: Sam Douglas, Ted Magar, Aubrey McLain, L. L. Hughes, Ross Brooks and Irv Baker.

Mrs. Fatheree was assisted by seven young ladies in caring for the many beautiful floral tokens. Interment was in Erick cemetery.

A very large concourse of relatives and friends attended the service.

Mr. Prather’s death came as the result of a car accident which occurred March 8, killing him instantly. He was well known in Erick and vicinity.

Life Story:
John Lewis Prather was born in Montague County, Texas, August 19, 1898. At the age of about five years his parents moved from Montague county, to Oklahoma Territory and settled near Erick, where he grew to manhood.

On December 24, 1932 he was married to Miss Gladys Oren, and to this union three children were born.

He obeyed the gospel and united with the First Christian church in August of 1931.

He departed this life March 8, 1944, at the age of 45 years, six months and nineteen days.

Survivors are his wife, Gladys, and three children, Gayle, Sandra and Johnnie Estelle; his father, Carol Prather; five brothers, Guy, Foy, Loyd, Buck and Eldon; three sisters, Mrs. Bill Minton, Mrs. E. E. Carter and Miss Carol Prather. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.

(Note: the Prather family first moved to Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, after leaving Texas and then relocated to the Erick area in 1903.)
