When I was a kid, my grandparents would take me with them to visit the cemeteries where relatives were buried. They would stand by a stone and talk about the person buried there. I wish I could remember those stories. This is a way to record stories I am now told. There is a story under every stone and cemeteries full of untold stories. I hope this will give people a chance to record a memory before it is forgotten, then lost. |
Recently, my husband got a Harley and we have combined our two interests. We ride the bike to various cemeteries that folks request photos from and have fun reading the old names and hunting for the requested gravesite. Sometimes just finding the cemetary is quite the challenge!
I do research on the following family lines: Lillpop, Askren, Green, Bell in Indiana. In Mississippi I follow the lines of Taylor, Ferguson, Scott and Holden.
"Do not, my Brothers and Sisters, think of the cemetery with tears, nor meditate upon the coffin and the shroud with gloomy thoughts. You only sojourn there for a little season, and to you it will not appear a moment; your body will sleep, and if men sleep all through a long night it only seems an hour to them, a very short moment. The sleeping time is forgotten, and to your sleeping body it will seem no time at all—while to your glorified soul it will not seem long because you will be so full of joy that a whole eternity of that joy would not be too long!" Hi, May I have your permission to use the photo of my cousin's headstone in my family tree? I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of all Find A Grave contributors who take these photos. I cannot do the work myself, so I am especially appreciative.
Thank you and please have a great day.

Could you update this record Jonnie Scruggs Daughtry with her parents 124204295 William Boyd Scruggs and Louella Scruggs 124227158? Could you also update her name to indicate Scruggs is her maiden name? Thank you!

You're very welcome. After I requested the changes I realized it wasn't the right person, just one with the same name
|Barbara Frame||Mary E. Veazey|
Please ignore all corrections for her that I submitted. They are all incorrect. Thank you

Patty, there is a double tombstone at Antioch cemetery for MArie Booker Balch and husband John Talbot BAlch. And you have a double tombstone in Tate County for Marie and Bill Hovis. Which one do think should be deleted, if either.. She can't be buried at two different places. Unless this is two different people. Mavis

Obits are not supposed to be posted where the pictures are. They are to be put down in the bio section of the memorial. You might want to have the person who posted the memorial type it in the bio section and you delete it from the picture section. Thanks.

Pattypop, I looked at the markers but did not see any other Houghtons in the area. Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of surnames on markers nearby but I will check the next time I'm at the IOOF.

While the grave is unmarked, I have uploaded a photo of the area where David was buried. Sorry; it's the best that can be done. BTW, based on cemetery records, the child was *buried* on Feb 11, 1960.
