Bio Photo I am a fifth generation Oregonian but currently live in Winchester, Virginia. I am active in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and work to repair, replace, or mark the graves of Civil War veterans buried in Oregon. In 2009 we completed renovation of the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Portland including the replacement of a bronze statue stolen more than forty years ago. In 2007 we completed renovation of the G.A.R. burial plot in the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery.
The picture is of my son Andrew and I at the Portland G.A.R. Cemetery for the dedication ceremony on May 30, 2009.
I am willing to transfer any of my memorials to relatives of the deceased.

Hi Randy - Thanks for taking the time to try and find the grave marker of my relative in Winchester. The military records indicate he died in the 3rd battle but he must be one of those in the mass grave. Thanks again. Bill.

G.A.R. Work

Thank you so much for your work with GAR. Though I am just a first generation Oregonian I feel connected with all those who have come before me.

Mary Elizabeth CROWLEY is my 1st cousin 5 time removed. Her grandfather Samuel 'Old Sam" CROWLEY is my 5th gr grandfather.

Would you possibly be able to give me permission to use your photos from Find A Grave on my Ancestry tree for Mary Elizabeth CROWLEY memorial #14589509 and her husband Benjamin MUNKERS memorial # 14589447 and related families? I would forever be in you debt. I am sure we are related but don't know how to figure out to what degree.
Will just say that I am glad to be in the family.
Again, thank you for all your hard work.

Addison Geho
Hi Randy,
I am presently working on a project honoring the soldiers from my hometown who gave the ultimate sacrifice. May I have your permission to use the image from Addison Geho’s memorial (#115348246) with credit being given to you. Thank you for your consideration. Anna

Emory Parady
You put a nice portrait of Emory Parady on his page.
His Find A Grave #= 10412168

Just so you will know, I was out to the cemetery today taking pictures of a grave and Emory's stone was near by and was in a great position in the sun to get really good pics of his stone so I got them and added a couple new, better pics to his page. The building you see in the background is part of the huge indoor mausoleum building in this cemetery. There are 100,000 people interred in that building and about 150,000 in the rest of the cemetery.
