I have been researching my family for the past 15 years. I started when my mother asked me to find her Dungans. We only knew the names of her parents and her grandparents and the first name of her great grandmother. All her cousins and aunts and uncles had either grownup and moved away or had passed away. Her memory was alive with these people and her love of them had stayed in her heart and memory all that time. At first the search was difficult but then the doors opened and a flood of information began to appear. First we met one cousin and then others. The last time she had seen them was when they were little kids. Some 70 years later we know about 300 of the family members and enjoy the search even more. Findagrave has enable us to find their resting places. It is so important to know where they are. It gives you that "all is well" feeling.

Mention is made of the Indian fight in which Bud English was killed in Frontier Times magazine; December 1938; Early Days in the Brush Country which was reprinted from the Uvalde Leader-News and written by Jake English. I can send you a pdf of the story if you are interested.

Ransom Tullos B 1820
Judy, I noticed you have Ransom as your uncle. Do you have a tree on Ancestry. My daughters are in his lineage. The page on Find-A-Grave that you commented on has an error that's not been corrected. Ransom's first wife is the mother of Andrew Tullis/Tullos. Her name - Eliza Runnels

Melilssa Yarborough Herod
Hi Judy, I hope you are well. It has been some time since we have talked. As you may remember my husband Robert is the g g grandson of Melissa Yarborough Herod. I know Robert would qualify for the decedents of the Battle of San Jacinto, and possibly for the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
I have gotten an application for the Sons of The Republic and have started gathering proof documents for that. I am having trouble getting in touch with someone from the Battle of San Jacinto. When I go to their website my computer will not let me click on any of their contact people. We would be very grateful for your help.

Thomas Franklin Smead

You have Thomas Franklin Smead, JR. linked to the wrong parents. These people are his paternal grandparents and were the parents of His father, Thomas Franklin Smead, SR.
