Bio and Links
Bio Photo My parent's recent ancestors mainly settled in Indiana as they pioneered and converged from many different locations on the east coast. I am a Hoosier at heart. My mother was born and raised in New York City but moved to Indiana where her mother's family had been rooted for some time. Her father's family came directly from Denmark. My father was born and raised in Indiana. His lineage are solid Hoosiers for several generations on his mother's side and his father's line comes from Kentucky and Tennessee. Some of them also lived in Ohio. My prior ancestors came from places in Europe, like England, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Scotland, France and Prussia. Most arrived through Canada and the states of Rhode Island, New York, Virginia and North Carolina and moved south and west into Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. I was born in North Carolina and grew up in Virginia. I most likely would have been born and living in Indiana all of my life had it not been that my dad was in the military. But then again, would my mom have married him if he were anything other than a dashing young cadet? I enjoy finding my roots and especially like knowing where my ancestors are buried and meeting my distant cousins along the way.

Clearspring Cemetery
Hi I am working with the Clearspring Cemetery Assoc. to put together a book of obituaries of everyone buried in this cemetery. I see you have added photo's of some of the people in this cemetery on Find A Grave, I would like to ask your permission to use these photo's in the book. It will be sold to help pay for the up keep of this Cemetery. Thank You.. Mary Crockett

RE: Infant of Catherine Coats
I did go to the cemetery yesterday and took photo of City Lot. I will upload by this weekend. You'll receive a notice from F.A.G. when this has been done.

RE: Infant of Catherine Coats
Hi, nobody buried with her/him or next that is related. I was at the office yesterday and office had checked the database but then had me look at an old registry book to confirm no marker - both agreed. I happened to remember this particular one since it was an infant and also because there were very few burials for that lot and tier. Insofar as taking a photo of the ground where the infant is buried, the best I can do is take a photo of City Lot and about where Lot 2 is. You'll see what I mean about this - the section is very large. The Office did give me a drawing of City Lot to show Lot 1 and 2 and I am willing to share - I'll scan later today or tomorrow. I'm on my way now to cemetery to take some other photos since there are over 600 requests for marker phoots . If you haven't removed your photo requests, don't remove it yet so that I can upload later.

On listing the wife, you show Elizabeth Berry and I am showing Elizabeth Young. Do you know if these are one in the same? If so, was her name Elizabeth Young Berry or did she mary before (or possibly after) Collin passed?

RE: William Sutherland
Hi--

It was from a book called "Complete Directory of Bartholomew County, Indiana, 1903-1904," which you can see here.

Of course his photo was in the "Memorial" section, since he had died almost 20 years earlier. I don't know if there is anything else about your family in this book, but you can look through it.

Not related, I just thought some of these old photos would be useful for someone.

I checked with the health dept and they did not have him in 39. I think they check 40 and 41 too.

I will look. You probably have to get a death certificate from KY vital statistics.
