Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a Military Historian and Reenactor, covering time-periods from the Pirate era to Vietnam in South Carolina. I am currently serving as the Commanding Officer of the "Palmetto Riflemen & New York Zouaves," an American Civil War Reenacting Unit, as well as being a member of the Micah John Jenkins Camp No. 164 of the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans, and the Charles Devens Jr. Camp No. 10, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

I see it as an honor and a privilage to ensure that the Veterans of the United States are properly remembered and that there graves are cared for.

Nellie (LEE) Shirah
I sent a suggestion about Nellie's memorial and may have inadvertently given her husband James' memorial number as the duplicate. Be that as it may, both Nellie and James' memorials are duplicates of earlier memorials created in 2002. The guidelines suggest both duplicates be deleted. Sorry for the mix-up.

RE: Sheppard Spencer Miller
Hi, thanks for the question! Sheppard Miller is my great-great grandfather. My aunt Edna Miller, wife of my uncle Leland Miller, had an old photo that she claimed showed Sheppard Miller, and she scanned it to me. So I have a pretty good digital resolution copy of the photo. There is a younger man to his left and a younger woman to his right. I'm 99% sure the younger man is his son, and my great-grandfather, William Langford Miller. The younger woman, however, I'm not too sure. It COULD be William Miller's wife Perdida Victoria Rinehart, or I suppose it could be Sheppard's second wife. When I get home from work tonight I'll send you the photo. I'd love help identifying the rest of the folks in the photo!

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 76287900
Thanks for info re Willie Harris name of mother Hattie, I'll see if I can find anything, it has to be a solid record or I won't list it as documentation. One record, when correct usually leads to more. 1915 enlistment would be great, might list a relatives name, I have other sites I can search.

Re: Ernest Jackson -
I just feel as a WWII vet his grave should be better tended than what it was and how I only stumbled onto it by accident/co-incidence. He (and his family plot) should not be forgotten already. Thanks for any help.

Perhaps you can help me get this WWII vet recognition he has earned. I almost didn't see this cemetery, was hidden in the bushes behind the New Bethel AME church. Directions are on the cemetery page. Let me know if you find anything new.

Thanks for the information on William H Harris. I've unsuccessfully searched for the rest of his info on ancestry.com. Do you have more info - place/date of birth? Parents? Did he pass in Missouri or in a WWI arena? By the way, think I recognize the name and face. Did you just give a narrative tour in a SC local town and work for that museum? If so - Hi - I shook your hand.

Col. F. W. McMaster
Good evening,

I see that my edit for Col. F. W. McMaster was declined. However, Col. McMaster was not "Jr.", he was the son of John McMaster and Rachel Buchanan.

Best,
