Hi. I am the TxGenWeb Coordinator for Bastrop County, Texas.
I travel the county to get records and pictures for upload to the county site. I believe it's important to preserve our cemeteries and help those looking for ancestors. I'm glad there is a site where the headstone pictures can go for those that cannot travel to the area.
DO NOT ADD CEMETERIES IF YOU AREN'T FROM THE AREA. YOU WILL BE CREATING A DUPLICATE. DO NOT GUESS WHERE PEOPLE ARE BURIED AND ADD THEM TO CEMETERIES WITHOUT PROOF. MEANING DO NOT GO BY DEATH CERTIFICATE BURIAL AREA PLACES (NOT CEMETERY NAMES) WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW THE AREA. EACH AREA HAS MULTIPE CEMETERIES SO BECAUSE FAMILY IS BURIED IN ONE CEMETERY DOES NOT MEAN THEY WERE. DO NOT ASSUME SPOUSES WERE BURIED IN THE SAME CEMETERY. Requests for Transfer: IF you are a direct decendant, I have no problem transferring a memorial to you. Otherwise, I'll be glad to make updates, corrections and additions. I get requests for 3rd cousins, ex Great Aunts, etc, who just want to add something and then they move on to other things and the memorial is basically abandoned. If I transfer to them, I can no longer transfer to a descendant. I'm here for the long haul and don't mind actively maintaining the memorials. Hope my intentions come across as a labor of love and respect for those who are forever a part of this county.
PLEASE use the edit function on the memorial for corrections/transfers, etc so the message I receive has the link and I can find the exact memorial. Thanks
