Jerman J. Wingo is my 3rd great grandfather and I would like to request that you correct the biographical information you have added to his memorial. I see that you have listed his father as "Louis Thomas" Wingo which is a bit of misinformation that has been rampant on the internet for some years. There are no documents that record his father's name as anything other than Thomas Wingo. See a 1921 transcription of Jerman Wingo's bible where his father is listed as "Thomas Wingo" at http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~watsonbev/wingobible.htm and Thomas Wingo's 1824 Pittsylvania County VA will at http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/pittsylvania/wills/wingo504gwl.txt. Also his grandfather Thomas Wingo's 1764 Amelia County will at http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/amelia/wills/wingo2.txt. All documentation lists his name as simply Thomas Wingo.
The erroneous belief that Jerman's father's name was Louis Thomas Wingo was based on speculation some 40 years ago that Jerman and Anne's first son was named for Jerman's father; however, Lewis Thomas Wingo, born 1826, was named for both of his grandfathers - Thomas Wingo and Lewis Yancey Beadles, father of Anne Yancey Beadles Wingo.
Misinformation spreads like wildfire on the internet and Ancestry.com making it necessary to try to keep any information added as well documented and correct as is possible.

William, the picture you have of JJ at fifteen is NOT JJ. JJ was born in 1842 he was 19 when the war started. I have all of JJ's memoirs and pics, including the tin types. If you need info on JJ, you are more than welcome to contact me. But I would ask that you please take the picture down as it in misleading. I have the original leather bound journals with alot of info in them prior to the 1861 -1865,era, and after the war.
|Robbie Carnell Story||John W. Wingo|
Hi William, I recently located a cemetery, known as the 'Collins Cemetery'. The only marker there in the cemetery is for a child named Saluda A. Wingo. There are other graves marked only by sandstones. I researched the child and found that she is the daughter of John W. Wingo and Rebecca Collins. I did research on John and found that he had been married three times. Are you interested in my research? I see that some of John's children are buried in the Shiloh Cemetery in Bradford and need to be linked. I linked the child Saluda. John married first to Rebecca Collins 30 January 1834 in Charlotte Co., Virginia. There are several corrections that need to be made. Rebecca J. (d/o John W.) born 1844. She died 1861 instead of 1961 and needs to be linked to her parents. Thanks, Robbie
Sorry. I missed the fact that you had already created a memorial. I have deleted mine.

|Michelle||Mattie (Townes) Wingo Update|
UPDATE: I finally found their marriage license and her husband's name was Charles Wingo, born about 1897, unsure where he was born, however he lived in Oklahoma in 1921. I still haven't found their death certificates or anything else on them. Anything you have is very much appreciated! My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!

|Michelle||Mattie (Townes) Wingo|
Good morning William! Do you happen to have any info on Mattie (Townes) Wingo? She was my great aunt, born on 13 Dec 1903 in Rosalie, Red River County, Texas, to John E. Townes & Martha "Mattie" Susan Parks. Supposedly she died on 10 Mar 1974, however I cannot find her death certificate or where she died and this may not be the correct date of death. I know Mattie's mother died when she was only 9 days old & she lived with her older sister, Bessie in Gowen, Okla. when she was 7. Her oldest brother in Wilburton, OK, had her birth certificate corrected in 1965. I know Mattie had at least one son named Calvin Wingo and I have info on him, but not his father's name or siblings, if any. If you have any info whatsoever on her, I would be forever grateful!! Thank you so very much!!

I believe that J. S. Wingo is buried in the Old Hardin Cemetery in Tippah County, Not the Green Cemetery.
