I am a native of Indiana and have been researching family history for as long as I can remmeber. Being active on this web sight really has been a great experience. My goal is continue to grow through the knowledge of my past and the history of those that came before me.|

I'm looking for possible links to my ancestors. Elisabetha Lahr (b. 1812) who married Joannis Stoll (in Germany) and had son Adam (1842) who came to America around 1856??
Elis. may have had a brother John, born 1839. Their parents may have been George Lahr and Lizzie Mitbuger.
Do you think there's a connection?

Jennifer, thanks for the photos and transfers. Cecil is Hugh Blackwell's oldest child. I didn't know he was at the same cemetery. I really appreciate all your work.

How exciting to hear from you! We have been talking about the Lahr family a lot recently, planning to drive to Lafayette to search legal records and cemeteries. Our grandson will be a freshman at Purdue, so that will be further reason to visit. Perhaps we can meet when we are in the area. I'm so glad to hear you are so active in genealogy. I started many years ago, on my family, but didn't do much with Dick's family until recently. I wonder if you have the two Lahr histories that we have. One is by Sam Lahr, and I think he was from the Huntington branch. It has some interesting narrative going back to Germany. It's rather difficult to read, and I don't know how carefully researched. My mother-in-law remembered that he visited "our" reunion at one time to gather information. It seems to run up to the 1960's. The second history was written by a lady from Elkhart. I can't seem to find her name and phone number at this time! I talked to her 2 or 3 years ago, and she was charming, willing to meet with us so I could copy some of her records. We planned to visit that spring so we wouldn't have to worry about winter roads. About that time, I developed some major health issues. As a result, I dropped the genealogy and never did get back with her. I'm pretty sure I can find her info again. If you don't have these two books within your family, we can probably provide copies of the pertinent information. Rita

I noticed your name on findagrave and thought you must be related to my husband's family. His name is Dick Lahr, and we live in Indianapolis. His family was from Lafayette and goes back from his father, Lorraine, b.1908, to Percy Tilman, John A, Ulrich, Johannes III, Johannes II, Johannes I, and Albert, b.1657, probably from Germany. I remember Willard, Edith and Verly at family reunions. I'm sure we have also met Jane at the funeral home. We would love to find out how you are related, and would be happy to share info! Rita Lahr
