Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started research into my family history over 50 years ago, as part of an 7th grade project; the itch to find out has never left me. I welcome the speed and spread of the internet -- before that it was a matter of making guesses, writing letters to overworked (and possibly annoyed) county clerks or historical societies and hoping to get a positive reply back.

Though I was born in Chicago, I come from a Minnesota family and feel my closest ties to that state.

My lines are: Smith (and what a difficult search that has been!), Ekman (Sweden), Shaleen (Sweden), Wallmark (Sweden), Kuhnau (Germany),Thiele (Germany), Phelan (Ireland). In addition I've done my husband's family links in England where I now live: Kirby, Wood, Coates.

Pearlie E. Smith
Hi Laurie:
I went to the County Clerk’s Office this morning to get the exact location of Pearlie’s grave.
(Section 3 Lot 17 Grave 3)
There is no grave stone. It has either crumbled and been removed or sunk below the turf.
We also found Dora Smith (Section 3 Lot 17 Grave 2) F.A.G. # 180877612 and Eunice Smith (Section 3 Lot 17 Grave 4) F.A.G. # 108439250
I am posting a picture of the location of all three graves

Thank you, Laurie. She is not my relative either. I believe you have more to offer. Best wishes, Ruth

Prudence Tryon Johnson # 35023594
Hi Laurie,
You sent me additional information on Prudence Tryon Johnson. Would you be interested in taking over this memorial so that you could make changes and field questions? Best wishes, Ruth.

Re maiden name : It was common for a step-child, legitimate or not, to take the name of the step-father. I have that in my family as well.

RE: Martha Ann Tryon Cuthberston
You can go in and delete. I did that side quite awhile ago. Are you looking for Tryons. I descend from Levi Tryon through James & Morris Tryon. James & Morris were brothers. Basically my maternal great grandparents were 2nd cousins and married. I have alot of info on the Tryons. If you need any info contact me at Would be glad to help. Thanks Linda

William Tryon
Hi Laurie,

Can you tell me where you found the 1880 census for William and Lucy Tryon? I searched on the familysearch website and didn't see it. I wanted to see where they were living in 1880. I found them on the 1870 census living in Genesee Co. Possibly their name is spelled a different way? I want to try to find a date of death for at least one of them.

Ella Ann Renn Shoebridge
Hi Laurie: Sorry, I reread your message about Ella Shoebridge being a witness at Ruby's wedding, so I guess it would be the same Ella. I will put a note on her memorial about our findings and let the readers decide. Regards...
