I live near Lake Ontario in NY. I grew up in the Washington DC suburbs. Both sides of my family lived in Georgetown and are Irish. On my father's side, the first of our family to arrive in America were 5 brothers named Sommerville from Gransha near Londonderry. William, the 3rd brother to arrive, came in 1773 at the age of 17. He was a soldier of the Revolution. I am attempting to connect the families of all 5 brothers. Settling originally in Penna., they soon moved to Va. and are traceable through the backwoods settlers of early Virginia. With the exception of William who saw enough adventure and privation during the war, they were always on the edge of expansion both west and south. They were well represented in the War of 1812, & both sides of the Civil War. Military service is a family hallmark.|
Anything I enter on findagrave is backed up with documentation. I post evidence when possible. If you are more directly related to an individual, I would be happy to transfer it to you. My intention has been to connect as many branches of the John & Elizabeth A. Sommerville family as possible.

Hello, I was working on St Rose of Lima in Gaithersburg Md. You have a memorial for Wm Sommerville there is a second memorial # 10500729. I was going to contact the other person about his memorial because your memorial is so complete with pictures and family history, but the other person has stopped receiving messages. I just wanted to let you know.
My 4th great grandfather is Thomas Sommerville who lived in WV. I have proof on him down to me but nothing on his parents or siblings. When Thomas came from UK in 1807 he had to sign a paper stating he was a British Citizen.
Do you have a tree on ancestry? I have my DNA test there under Griffith Sommer

Connie, I apologize I didn't mean to offend...I just wanted to mention the mother Mary is all.
There could be other children then the six listed I just assumed you were listing Sarah (John's wife) as the 7th child as others have.
I appreciate all you contributions and hard work.
Please accept my apologies.

HI, Connie you posted a marker on the above memorial. Would you mind posting it to her children that are buried in Holy Rood?
They are connected to her memorial.
Let me know if I need to send them as photo requests.
