Yes, I was aware that he is a Civil War veteran. It has been passed down that he was with General Sherman. My Uncle Sal had his musket, but when he passed away my aunt got rid of it. I really wish it would have stayed in family. This is my favorite time frame. I would love to receive any information you have on him. Thank You :)

Hi Bill, no I am not related. I did have access to some information that was provided to me regarding war veterans and the information was taken from that. Regards, Nadeen

Thank you so much for all of this wonderful information. My email is
I will look forward to checking out your website and your news letter.

I do not have a picture of Samuel's stone. If there is any part of one left, I will get a picture to you. According to cemetery records he's buried in the same row as his parents. Thanks also for the information on a government marker for him

Mr. Krebs,

I am so sorry that your message did not get answered. I just recently got back into genealogy. Yes, I am related to this Samuel. He is a brother to John Shellenbarger, who is a direct ancestor. They are both sons of Henry Shellenbarger. I was looking at who all was buried in Westminster Cemetery. I was recently in the cemetery and noticed that some of the stones are deteriorating. Some look like they are beyond restoration and will need to be replaced. My brothers and I are looking into this and if replacement is required, we want to do it with something appropriate. Again, please accept my apology.

If you would like to transfer Samuel's memorial to me, I would greatly appreciate it. And if you have any information on him, I would love that too. Thanks!
