Bio and Links
Bio Photo Like most, my interest began with my own family tree and has now expanded in an attempt to help others just getting started or to those who cannot travel to the cemeteries themselves. I have been working on my own family lines since 1991 and have enjoyed every bit of it. For those who know, it is more than a hobby, it's a life love. Thank you to those who have helped me and I hope to pass it on and do the same for others.

RE: George Ira Friel #61076309
Yesterday I met with a local genealogist who incidentally has a brother buried in what was called Poage Lane Cemetery. The road "Poage Lane" no longer exists. Now we have Beverage road which is a single lane gravel road, onto Edray road (paved) for about 30 feet, then onto Little Italy road, also one lane gravel. The cemetery where my contact has her brother is across a cow pasture and up a steep hill which is near the corner of Edray road and Beverage Road. She says the cemetery is abandoned and damaged. I am 78 and unable to handle that climb. So it is possible your relative is there. In my visits to cemeteries in Pocahontas County I have noted the name Friel many places. Another problem exists: I took the Find a Grave list of names for Poage lane cemetery and found 4 of them buried in a small cemetery just in on Little Italy Road. I took pictures of those stones but I do not know how to change the location of those burials from Poage to Corso cemetery, also abandoned but at road level. I am led to suspect that record keeping was casual in those days. I am sorry I failed to find your relative. Regards, Ruth

Hi Johnny,
May I post a photo you took of James Brearley{1808-1875} to my ancestry page?
Sincerely,

Ida Pyle Duplicate
Saw your message about the duplicate. Two of us are working on the 100's of duplicates for this contributor. Did not see it because of the double names in the last name field. As he is not responsive to the duplication problem it will take time to complete it.

RE: Jessie M. Watson Algard
Hi Johnny,

Unfortunately I didn't buy the photo, but I can tell you where I saw it. It was in the antique mall: http://www.thedowntownantiquemall.com/
Since it has been more than a couple of years, I don't know if it will still be there, but it was in one of the booths on the right side towards the front of the store. Maybe they can tell you the name of the booth renter and if they sold it or not. I am always mystified as to why these people sell big framed photographs, that is one of the main reasons why I took a photo of it and posted it online.

I am really into family history and I was surprised as to how fast I found her on ancestry and findagrave. I also had one of her grandsons contact me about a year ago to also see if they could go by and get the photo, but I am not sure if they did. I can ask and see if you would like. How are you related to her?

RE: Patrick Canton & Cemetery ?
Thanks, Johnny. I tried to visit Cathedral (not the one on Butler), and no one was in the office. When calling, no one answered. It's an area I'm not familiar with, but when no one is there, it's quite uncomfortable. StoneMor's database in the Catholic cemeteries doesn't seem all that efficient, and they offer far less information now. Lookups used to be free, then became $15 per lookup, and now are $45! I prefer the offices that do lookups, but as you said, that's rare now.
