Bio and Links
Bio Photo Every marker has a story to tell; sometimes I can be its voice

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction link to add/correct information. I try to get to them within 24 hours of receipt.

I don't estimate birth years. The relatives of the dearly departed not only could get the date of death wrong on the monument but the age at death. Too many people take anything they find on the Internet as gospel, and I will not contribute to that bad habit.

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction to request a transfer. Please include your relationship. I will not transfer out of guidelines. Please spare me the "I am the family genealogist" and the "I have tons of information to add" stories. Use the edit system. Too many people have requested out-of-guidelines transfers and then never added so much as a comma to the memorial. Requests for bulk transfers will be summarily ignored.

I WILL NOT link to a "burial unknown". This IS a grave registration site.

If I do not maintain the memorial, but add a picture, PLEASE check the photo caption for the inscription.

My love of old cemeteries is genetic from my dad. I try to take pictures of the fallen/damaged markers first as they might end up "behind the shed" or "over the wall" by the next time I get there.

Sources for additional memorial information include:
Suggest A Correction, NEHGS,,, NARA, other on-line sources, personal library, obituaries, newspaper items, etc.

Hi P. K.,
I will be glad to transfer the stewardship of Edward's memorial to you if you like. I am not related to him.
Just send a line and I'll process the transfer ASAP.

RE: George and Jane Wenzel

I appreciate the changes that you have made and will convey to their great-grandson why other changes were not made.

Thank you!!

George and Jane Wenzel
Thank you so much for the directions - we found the stone without issue.

I did get a request from George and Jane's great grandson (David Dewey) about making changes to their post. I was able to submit the change for Jane -but had trouble with the one for George. He wants to change the place of birth for George to be Eiterhagen, Hessen, Germany. However, the small village is not a choice in the drop down boxes. I wanted to ask you how to best proceed - I can request the change to Hessen and leave the city blank and perhaps we had Eiterhagen to the profile?

The change for Jane will be to change her maiden name to Girvin. David things the typo on the tombstone was due to George's heavy german accent.

Thank you for all of your assistance and work on these postings.

Hattie Beals
Thanks for deleting that. I am currently searching Goshen to see if Hannibal Hammond, for who there is little or no results on an internet search, appears. If not, maybe the Beals are nearby. I did learn, interestingly, that Hattie was with her sister Dora when she had TB before her death with Joseph Beals. I first thought it was Joseph's son, but he would have been too young and was not married at the time...

Responding to your message
I moved my entry for Hattie (#181588830) to Goshen Center Cemetery. Considering my entry for Hattie (#181588830) is linked to her immediate family members, you could delete your entry (#41285537). As I said in my message before, I didn't mean to create a duplicate, but since her name changed again and again, it isn't a shock that I couldn't find it. I mean, she went from Hattie B. Mills to Hattie B. Hammond, then Hattie B. Beals! That's a lot of name changes where as most married women only usually had one, when they adopted their husband's surname. I understand that you are not transferring Martha since she is linked to Joseph already.

I look forward to hearing from you.

RE: Packard transfers
Ok, I understand that. Yes, the Packards were prolific. My ancestor, Cyrus W. Packard married three times and had twelve children (one of whom was my great-grandfather)! Six months after my great-grandmother died in 1895, Cyrus married again! I bet the children from his previous marriage were pretty angry with him. Thanks, if I have suggestions I will send them along.

Doogie Averyt
You sponsored the memorial for my little dog Doogie. I want to thank you for doing that. Today is the first anniversary of his passing, and it has been a rough week. I still can't bear to look at photos of Doogie. He was so smart and curious and had a personality that was a mile wide, plus he was so cute and was a real charmer. He never met a stranger, and everyone was his friend. I always told him he should've been in the movies. He was certainly one of a kind.

Again, thank you.

RE: Jane Wenzel
Thank you so much! I am able to drive the cemetery - I have a Ford Edge - but I also make sure to go slow so I don't bottom out.

I appreciate your help with this. My Aunt was thrilled to hear this as well - we're working on the Girvin branch of the family this year. A great find indeed.

Thank you,
Koreen Miller
