It all began with a book from K-Mart. Trace your roots it offered. That was a bit over thirty years ago. What started with curiosity over where I came from became a quest to keep my ancestors from being forgotten.

Finding my history naturally led me to cemeteries and nearly every cemetery I visited had stones that had fallen over or become illegible over time. Knowing that no one remembered the person who lay beneath it was sad.

That's why I like and contribute to findagrave because sooner or later someone is going to look for one of the lost and chances are that their only chance of finding them will be through findagrave.

Maybe they'll be looking for someone I've contributed or maybe I'll be looking for someone they'll post. Either way, findagrave keeps the memories alive.
