|I will transfer any non Gunn memorial, please use the 'edit' & 'suggest a correction' method.|
I will trade memorials with anyone that has a Gunn memorial. One for one or if you have 50,000+ memorials you could just transfer the Gunn ones to me.
I send out edits because I found the correct info in my research which is real research, I look at original documents and I take a family member's word about their loved ones memorial and will fix any info even if it contradicts a bio or added story. The press gets it wrong, the stone carvers get it wrong, the funeral homes get it wrong and we all get it wrong.
Ps I forward all inappropriate emails to info@findagrave. I have actually done this a few times in the past year.
I have had several dna tests. Some from Family Tree DNA, another test with Ancestry dna. The latest test (the Big Y, at FTDNA)put my ancestral homes proceeding backwards as; Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, England, Scotland, Norway, and 2300 years ago, Northern Germany.
I am an R1b1a2a1a1b, R-P312+, DF19+, DF-88+. My Ysearch id is BSTUQ, Family Tree DNA # 222038.
I am finding that my male ancestors were a fighting bunch. My direct line has participated in every war including the revolution. My 2nd great grandfather #76873051 served with the 65th Georgia Volunteer Army of Tennessee. My 4th great grandfather #24881763 was a Private in the Rev War and the War of 1812. My father #20291944 was in Korea, Vietnam, and I was in the cold war and Desert Shield/Storm. I am a retired US Navy Electronics Technician Chief Petty Officer.

|Carolina Caswell||Cenotaph is Not a Duplicate|
More than 100 years after his death, the gravestone of Starling Gunn was moved to the Yanceyville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Therefore memorial 42955943 is a cenotaph (empty grave) and the other memorial is his actual burial location and not a duplicate.
Hi Bill! I transferred James Gunn to you per your request! Great work on here :)

Hi "Cousin" Bill,
I am a descendant of John Carroll Gunn 1816 - 1902 through his youngest son Daniel O Gunn 1860 - 1918.
What is your Gunn branch?
Always interested in solid info on ancestors. In particular, John Carroll Gunn's father John Gunn who died abt Nov 1815 in Robertson Tn. He was the son of Daniel Mark Gunn and Jerusha Winn. He married Elizabeth Carroll the daughter of James Carroll and Sarah Bruce. They had children Martha A (Gardner), William C and John C. The children were very young (John C. was not yet born) when John Gunn died and they were later placed under a guardianship (probably when the widow remarried). Elizabeth Carroll went on to marry William Hubbard aft 1821, had 6 more children and died 1875 in Illinois.
If you run across info on the above, please fill me in.

|Tom Atkinson||Thomas Gunn|
Do you know if this is the same Thomas Gunn who is said to have married four time, lastly to Eleanor Alverson?
|Carolina Caswell||Thomas Gunn Jr|
According to the Caswell County Historial Assn, the burial location for Thomas Gunn Jr or his wives is not known. His memorial is an anomaly becasue the church cemetery were you have placed his memorial has been surveyed many times over the years and a grave for him was never recorded. Additionally, his death predates the earliest known burials by 50+ years. If your research has uncovered "new" information please consider sharing with the Caswell County Historical Association. Thank you.

Hey Bill, thanks for the information. My Gunns only go back as far as John Gunn (1782-1865). I don't have his father. John was listed on all the census' as living in Robeson, NC, born in NC and in the 1850 census there is an Elizabeth Gunn 80 born in Scotland living with him. She is only 12 years older than him so not his mother, maybe aunt or sister. Rev. Alex Gunn is my 2nd grt grandfather's brother, John Henry Gunn. John Henry and his brother Wm Wallace moved to Texas by 1856. If you have any information you can send it to my email email@example.com, listed on my Find A Grave page. Thanks again, Earl

Hey Bill, thanks for the reply. The earliest Gunn I have is John Gunn born in NC in 1782 m.Susannah Beard 3rd grt grandparents but in 1850 census there is an Eliz. Gunn in his household born in Scotland abt. 1770 so only 12 years older than him. There are lots and lots of Gunns in Texas..good luck and let me know if you find anything. Earl
I just noticed you are a retired Navy guy. My son is now in the Navy and went thru the nuke school at Goose Creek and Ballston Spa (Knolls Atomic Power Lab)and is now on their staff for 2 years. He is an electician's mate and will eventually be on submarines. Thanks for your service. Earl
|E. Middleton||Gunn Relatives|
Hey Bill, I got your message about Gunn cousins in Texas. My mother was a Gunn but born in Atlanta. Her father and his family came from Texas, the Gonzales County area. I looked thru your Gunn links and didn't recognize any. My 2nd grt grandfather John Henry Gunn moved to Texas from NC in 1856 and fought all 4 years thru the Civil War with Hood's Texas Brigade. He had brothers Rev. Alexander Fletcher, Francis Littleton and William Wallace Gunn. I don't know very much about the Middleton side of the family and I wish I could trace them back to England. Earl
