Daniel DeHart memorial #14640762
Additional information for memorial on Daniel DeHart:

Daniel was the illegitimate child of Balthazar DeHart & Margrietje Stuyvesant. Born 1669 [gravestone inscription]. He was baptized 1 Sep 1671 Reformed Dutch Church, NYC. He married Grietje Catlyntje [Catharina] Van Pelt [supposed daughter of Jan Teunissen Van Pelt 1645 Netherlands - 1734 Staten Island & Marytje Pieterse 1649 NY - 1719 Staten Island; remains unsubstantiated].

Daniel's mother, Margaret Stuyvesant was deserted by her husband Jacob Backer in about 1667. Her brother was Peter Stuyvesant, the Dutch governor of the colony for 17 years until the English took over. She was left with her husband's debts in a society that was still partly primitive. Fortunately, she became engaged to Balthazar de Haert but could not legally marry him until Jacob Backer was declared dead. She never married Balthazar as his wife was prematurely cut short in 1672.
Daniel was just three years old when his father Balthazar died. In his will, Balthazar left his son Daniel a house, two copper stilling kettles (used for brewing alcoholic drinks), plus an income of 'sixty guilders of wampum" a year until he reached adulthood.
Daniel's will dated 10 Feb 1750 Elizabethtown, Essex, NJ lists his children: Margaret; Anne; Elizabeth; Catherine; Daniel; Baltus; Mathias and Samuel [memorial #14622107]. All his children were born in Staten Island and baptized Reformed Dutch Church Port Richmond.

He was interred in the oldest section of burying place, probably southwest of church before Rev. Van Pelt's Academy building was constructed in 1890.

Henry I. Eldert memorial transfer

Would it be possible to transfer Henry I. Eldert's memorial to me if this is not your ancestor? (Memorial #23304460) Henry is my 3rd great grandfather. I've been doing a lot of research on him and his siblings, and would like to update his profile with additional information I have, as well as create and link memorials for other family members.

Thank you

RE: Samuel Davidson Nutt
I "clipped" the obituary and pasted it. Brooklyn Daily Eagle obituary.

Catherine Scoresse
I think you should remove Catherine Scoresse's Social Security Number from her Find A Grave memorial. People in this generation will miss use that plus Her Son & Family may not aprove.

Cemetery - New Sign

I was at Cedar Hill Cemetery, East Millstone, Somerset County, New Jersey, USA today. I took a photo of the new cemetery sign which is much nicer than what they had previously. Can we change the photo that's posted on the cemetery?

RE: Earl R. Lewis
I have deleted the erroneous photo for Earl R. Lewis on his famous memorial and replaced it with the one that you updated at his Wikipedia site.

Thanks for letting me know.

Hi Richard,
Can you tell me how you have the photo of my father's portrait? I thank you for adding it, but I was quite surprised to see it, and then to have it added by someone my age :)

You had created a link #12417863 to a grave site of Steener Nilsen. On the page it states you are a eighth great-grandfather. If so, we are relatives way back in time.
