PLEASE NOTE - I will NOT process edits or transfer requests that are left in my messages. PLEASE SEND AN SAC via the EDIT TAB for these requests!
I'm Mandy, and I'm a happily married mother of one living in central VA. I've always loved cemeteries, and thanks to this site I've found a great reason to spend my free time there!! Any nice weekend or evening you might run into me and my lovely assistants (son and dogs) at a cemetery in the area.
Currently I am working on documenting, in its entirety, Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. It is the second largest cemetery in Virginia, behind Arlington. This may take a while! I have to give credit to the many members who have listed memorials from Blandford already: Paula, Barbara, George, and many others, but most of all Susan - you are the best!
To my knowledge, I am of no relation to the memorials I've created, except for those listed here. If you find any errors or omissions in any of them, please feel free to contact me and I will correct them expediently.
I prefer that you use the Suggest a Correction function under the "Edit" tab to request additions/changes or transfers - it makes it much easier for me to find the specific memorial that way. If you send me a request and I do not address it within a few days, please re-send! If you re-send and still get no response, go ahead and list my memorial on here, because I'm probably dead. :)

|CG||RE: Looking for guidance|
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my query! I really appreciate your input. In my most recent request for a link to a "plopped" grave in Blandford, since I feel it likely the individual was probably buried there, will be to make the link but add on my memorials that there is no record of his death or burial there. And I plan to add to my screen that I will not link to "unknown burials." I did that once, but really wish I hadn't. They can just add to their memorials the bio info about relatives, right? All the best! Carolyn

|CG||Looking for guidance|
Hello! You have been working on Blandford Cemetery for many years and created thousands of memorials, so I am hoping for some guidance based on your experience. I have had an uptick in edit requests to link memorials I created to parents with "burial unknown" memorials (from 1700's), or memorials placed in Blandford when there is no record, evidence or documentation for their burial, in some cases, not even dates of birth or death. I spend time on each memorial documenting the information I add, so it makes me uncomfortable to agree to link to a "manufactured" memorial, even though I have done so once or twice. What is your policy when you receive these types of requests? And thanks again for all your hard work! Carolyn

Hello! :) I just submitted several edits for Muriel to link her to her 1st husband (Robert Clark) and add her maiden name (Seagle). I verified the information on Ancestry.com. She is a distant cousin of mine (1st cousin 2x removed). Thank you for maintaining her information. Have a great weekend.
Her year of birth is actually 1894 per the 1900 census. I didn't submit the edit for that as the headstone shows 1899 and I didn't want to cause any confusion for other researchers. Thanks again! :)

Dear Mandy G.,
Thank you very much for transferring my great great Grandfather George Simmons Payne findagrave.com memorial over to me. That was very kind and thoughtful of you as well as a great help in adding and expanding my families tree.

Hi Mandy G. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but thank you for uploading the photo of the grave marker.

Thank you for your contributions to Find a Grave. May I have your permission to include copies of your photographs of my relatives' gravestones in my family tree at Ancestry? I will credit you as the photographer. Thanks, Susan

Thank you. I will look at the possibility of doing more. Thank you for your work. Lois

Mandy: My sisters and I just visited Petersburg and Blandford Cemetery this past week. We are researching our Ruffin family and knew some of them were buried at Blandford. What a massive job you are taking on to go through that cemetery. I did take pictures and can contribute them to your project and/or to the Find A Grave project. I pulled your name up on the site under the gravsstone of William A. Ruffin. (Are you a Ruffin family member?)
I was also wondering about the upkeep or lack of upkeep at the cemetery. Do you know any background about that?
I am interested in any information you can supply. My direct e-mail is Loikalane@aol.com. Thank you, Lois Koenig
Thank you for the photo, it was very helpful.
