I became interested in genealogy in elementary school, and I started actively researching my family in middle school. I've enjoyed every adventure since then.|
I came across FindAGrave.com when I was trying to do some family research for my husband's family. After finding one of his family members, I decided to search for my own family. I was surprised to find that a number of my Dad's family in Missouri was already posted online with memorials. I was so grateful that someone had gone out of their way to input my family online. After all, they didn't have to. They weren't related to them, didn't know them. After that I decided to become a member in hopes of keeping alive the memory of my relatives as well as others even if I didn't have the privilege of knowing them, for I want to return the favor that was shown to me.
My husband, Mark, enjoys coming along and visiting cemeteries with me. He claims half the pictures we've posted he took, but I'm not so sure. :-)
Please leave me a message if I have made any errors in my listings, or if you have additional information.

|RLM||Re: Mem. #15179729|
It's nice to see your hard work that produced this memorial in 2006, and it's too bad that in 2009 Mem. #41524486 was created as a duplicate.
Wonder if it's possible for the 2 contributors to create a merged memorial, so that all the links will be in one place, avoiding a disagreement about which links point to which duplicate memorial ?
Not assigning blame, just pointing out an issue :)

Hollis Montague was a Native son of Vermont, being born in Fletcher in 1841, and enlisting in the 2nd Vt. Infantry, as a musician, during the Civil War.
May I use the photo's that you contributed to his Find A Grave memorial, to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)
You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.
|Julie Harris||The Harris Family|
This is Julie Harris. Thank you very much for your efforts in keeping the memories of my grandparents alive. I too have often visited their graves, despite the fact that they are hard to find because of being unmarked.
I have begun my own ancestry research and any information you have would be most appreciated.
Michael was one of my closest cousins. He was the one we had most contact with. Please tell him that I still have the little Holly Hobbie calendar that he gave me at our home on Nosilla. Growing up we rarely saw Frank and John. The other cousins lived further away. We were always concerned with Luke and brother Rule's (spelling?) health. I hope they are doing well.
Michael seemed to be in awe of my father Jake, like Jake was some great hero in his eyes, or at least that is how I remember history. Michael always proudly called him "Uncle Jake" and loved to share the connection with others.
None of us predicted that Michael would marry one of the Miller girls. Let's see I think there was Patty the career oriented one who worked for a bank? and MaryAnn the very pretty one. My memory may fail me though. Anyway we were happy Michael found a family of his own with Debbie being a proud mother.
You know my family and I lived next door to Rosehill for many years. I am disappointed that more was not done to mark the graves. We rarely even visited them back then. Since growing up, moving to Dallas and then on to my life in Miami I have visited the graves as often as I can. I think they are marked by trees that have grown larger. The staff at the cemetery were not super helpful. But I do think my visits were in the general area.

If I send you an obituary for Pattie Lee Patterson Smith will or can you insert it on her page? I am her husband.
|Cathy Finnie||Crowder genealogy|
I am doing research on the Crowder family, and I ran across a letter from Grace Ellen Crowder at a genealogical library. I was wondering if you might know who inherited her genealogy research, or if perhaps it was donated to a genealogical society somewhere.
Would you mind contacting me privately by email? My address is caf_laterra at yahoo.com.
|Len Thomas||Holdridge Family|
I am seeking information on the Holdridge family as I am writing a book about Lucy (Holdridge) Blanchard, daughter of John and Polly (Mallory) Holdridge. John is one of Thomas & Abigail's children - your entry on Find A Grave.
Lucy lived in nearby Fenton, MI for four years with her sister's daughter. Lucy served as a nurse in the Civil War in Virginia and Washington, DC.
She was married very briefly to a William H. Blanchard. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse NY on the same plot as Willie Blanchard, William's son.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please contact me directly at
Swartz Creek, MI
