Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy assisting others with their genealogy research and especially involving the deceased interred and entombed at Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum. I have been photographing at this historic cemetery, the oldest in Wisconsin, for more than 50 years.

My photos are taken professionally with a NIKON camera (never with a cell phone). I take the time to wait for the right weather and lighting, remove debris from around the monument and take the very best photo possible. I do not tarnish the peaceful beauty or disturb the reverence of the grave site by adding dates, times or any other text to my photos, and you will never see my reflection in the monument or my shadow over the grave site or monument. Each photo is a work of art and labor of love done with as much respect for your family member as I would want for my own.

I will add the cemetery or mausoleum section location of the grave or crypt in the caption below the photo. My personal comments are not appropriate on your family profiles, so I will not post personal comments to the caption like "Rest in Peace John Smith."

Whenever possible I will post two photos, one from a distance, and one that is close-up of the memorial monument or crypt front. If there is a Military/Veteran's monument present, I will add a photo of that, also.

EDITS, TRANSFERS, CORRECTIONS, LINK REQUESTS: Please make any transfer requests, corrections, or family linkage requests via the Edit tab on the memorial and include the profile number in your request. I will be happy to transfer management of a profile if I am not a relative or personally connected to the deceased. THANK YOU to all who've kindly submitted edits or transfers.

PLEASE: (1) It is NOT a tombstone, not a headstone, not a marker, it is a MEMORIAL MONUMENT. (2) close-up photos of names/dates are not necessary. Find A Grave allows you to click on each photo to enlarge it several times, so it is a waste of profile space to add a close-up of the engraved name and dates. Some Find A Gravers do this, and it just takes up limited space you could use to add photos of the deceased or other memorabilia. You can only add five photos or other memorabilia before Find A Grave charges before any more can be added.

Sophie (Kriescher) Basten
Hi Jeanne,
Thank you for responding regarding Christine (Kriescher) Peot.
There is one more aunt that we do not know where her stone is located at Allouez. You did not take this photo but would you know where Sophie (Kriescher) Basten's stone is located?
You are such a wealth of knowledge about Allouez.
Thank you very much,
Misty Sea

Christine Kriescher Peot
Hi Jeannne,
You took a nice picture of Christine (Kriescher) Peot's tombstone in Allouez. Would you be able to tell me what section of the cemetery her stone is in?
Thank much,
Misty Sea

RE: Fox and Young photos at Allouez Catholic Cemetery
Frances Bartel's full given name was Katherina Franziska Barthel, born in Oestrich, Germany in 1828 - So Katherine in her marriage announcement makes sense.

RE: Fox and Young photos at Allouez Catholic Cemetery
Thank you for requesting photos of Bishop Fox's family. I am happy I could help, and I appreciate your compliment of my photography. If you have other requests for Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, feel free to email me directly. Can you tell me the relationship of F. Lucile Young to Pearl S. Young? I read that the youngest daughter of Paul and Anna Fox was named Lena, and Lena married Frank Reitz.

You have it a little bit confused:
Paul was married to Frances Bartels Fox (not Anna Fox) Anna and Lena were two of their 11 children.
Anna Fox married Frank Reitz. Lena Fox married Joseph Pearl S. Young.
Also, the Fox surname was originally Fuchs and Paul Americanized it to Fox)

Frances Lucille Young is Pearl and Lena's only child. - I put in an edit request for the father daughter relationship a couple of days ago. She went by Lucille and was married to Frederick J. Ross in 1919 but divorced by the time of her death.
Lucille's mom was Lena Fox Young and as you note. She was the youngest daughter of Paul Fox. It is not clear whether Frances Bartels Fox is Lena's biological mother, but she was certainly her emotional mother. Another woman, Barbara Zeitgius, is listed on Lena's birth record. However it may just be a recording error as I can find no record of a Barbara Zeitgius existing. In any case, Frances Bartels Fox raised Lena and Lena named her only child after Frances.

Lena was born Magdalena Cecelia Fox and was born 20 July 1868 and lived in Chicago most of her adult life. I can't find her death record. In the 1940 census, She is widowed, a partner in a car dealership and living in Chicago with her two nieces Marie and Cecilia Reitz.

Sorry for the lengthy answer.

Anna Fox Reitz and Frank Reitz photos and obituary
Thank you for all the work on the these two memorials that you created and took the initiative when coming across them during the Fox family photos.

I knew Anna was buried there but had been looking for Frank. Also, wow on the Frank Reitz obituary!

If you don't mind me asking where do you access the obituaries?

Also, you didn't happen to see Anna and Frank Reitz's daughters buried there. They are
Cecelia Reitz 18841955 and
Marie Reitz 18901959
Both were single, lived together most of their lives in Chicago and when they died the death certificates indicate they were buried in Green Bay - so I thought they would be with their parents.

Fox and Young photos at Allouez Catholic Cemetery
A very big thank you for all the lovely photos of the Fox and Young family memorials.

It is so appreciated and your work is beautiful. Thank you also for the bonus obituaries. They were helpful in connecting a few dots I am working on.
