John Trarop
Hi Richard,

Would you happen to know how i can find more about my 5x gr-father: John Trarop? We believe he "volenteered" to join the Civil War, and he fought at Gettysburg & other important places. doesn't list much on him & i did start a profile on Fold3.

Great Grandfather
Francis Magennis was a private in 1st Michigan Cor of Engineers and MechanicsCompany He was a stone mason and repaired bridges and buildings on Lookout Mt. Chattanoga TN battle.

He enlisted in the Ist MI Cor of Engineers and Mechanics company A in 1863
and mustered out at Nashville TN Sept. 22, 1865,
He was 44 and a half when he enlisted. This is in History of Calhoun co, MI page 206, and also in Record of Service of Michigan Volunteers in the Civil War. 1861-1865.
Enlistment Date: 13 March 1863
Distinguished Service: DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
Side Served: Union
State Served: Michigan
Unit Numbers: 1080 1080
Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 13 March 1863 at the age of 44
Enlisted in Company A, 1st Engineers Regiment Michigan on 13 March 1863.
Mustered out Company A, 1st Engineers Regiment Michigan on 22 September 1865 in Nashville, TN

Civil war veterans
I have seen the wonderful work that you have done with the civil war veterans. I am completing a book a friend started on veterans in Western MI. I am having trouble getting tombstones for unmarked graves. Would love to talk to you!
