Bio Photo Please use the SAC function (edit button on memorial) to request transfers, and be sure to let me know specifically how you are related.

I volunteer at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, and am working on photo-documenting the whole cemetery. In addition, I am helping to research some of the burials, and correcting records where possible. It is a huge and time-consuming job, and memorials that I manage get attention first because it's easier. At this point, I prefer not to transfer memorials for this cemetery (other than mandatory transfers, of course) because my research is ongoing. In the meantime, please feel free to send me as much additional info as you wish via the edit button on the memorial.

(Please see "Help with Find a Grave" for guidelines on transfers.)

NOTE on obituaries: Please don't waste photo space with obits that simply contain info available elsewhere on the memorial - such as name, dates, burial location. Also, please don't post multiple photos of obits + death notices, choose the best, and be sure to document source. Also, make sure it is ONLY the obit for the person memorialized - not a long list of local deaths, and make sure it is legible. I still prefer to either transcribe or simply glean facts from obituaries and save the photo space for faces and graves. If you don't want to transcribe, send me a note that you've uploaded an obit; I'll transcribe it and send you a note when I'm done, and you can then remove the photo.

The person we have listed as her son is not correct.
He is her father-in-law. He is the father to Claud C Arnold (1888-1954. Claud and Lillian named their oldest son after Augustus Milton Arnold.

RE: Eva Kreis Burckel
I didn't realize how big a project answering my question might be!

I've pretty much exhausted and so far as I have found, all the references other than to just "France" come from Find-a-Grave. Maybe you used a better set of search terms?

Eva Kreis Burckel

Thanks for all your good work.

I note for three of my possible relatives (Eva Kreiss Burkel #106847294, Gorge Burckel #106847271, and their daughter Barbara Kreis Burckel Bender #106847271) their place of birth is listed as Soultz-sous-Forets, Bas-Rhin, France. I was wondering if you have a source for that information because I have not been able to find anything other than "France" in various records.

Thanks for any help you can give.

RE: Espy / Esper
I am glad you checked on this as I found Hannah T Martin Esper in Fairview Cemetery in Warren Co, Ky and did not correct the mistake that I made by changing Espy to Esper-- several trees on ancestry had selected Hannah Espy was Hannah Esper but I was the dummy that changed her name--please correct her name back to Espy--I had the correction on my list today but I got so tired yesterday that I did not correct it yesterday. Sorry I had inconvenienced you M M Ennis

I was tracing the first wife of John W Esper from Bavaria--he came to Georgia and married Hannah T Martin, they move to Warren Co, Ky and Hannah and 3 of her children die of asiatic cholera in Aug and Sep of 1866--she was listed in Fairview Cemetery as Mrs. Esper and 2 children and her date of death 14 Aug 1866--had to follow the clues--day late and a dollar short m m ennis

RE: John Green Memorial# 114333606
Documentation to support:

The Ancestors and Descendants of John White and Sarah Elizabeth Green With Allied Lines by Anne White Strawn, 1984, Page 77. Sources #133 and #161 in the book validate.
James Green and Jane Futhey were parents of John Futhey Green (B. Nov 1795, D. 1873)married Esther Johnston Shackelford in 1825.Confirmed by DAR records of Mrs. Emmeline Green Walker(DAR#243707,accepted June 21, 1928). John F. Green's date of birth is listed as 1796 on the tombstone. That is the only discrepancy I found.

The Green Family of South Carolina, compiled by William Hughson Green, 1958, page 4, mentions the marriage of James Green and Jane Futhey and mentions children of the marriage.

Mary Jane Green, his daughter, stated that she was born in Georgetown, S.C. There are other cousins to Mary Green thru another of my Green kin who also moved to the Resaca/Dalton area and they all are buried in the same cemetery in Atlanta. Letters are mentioned in Strawns book that connect them.

Very Interesting - thanks for the info and research. I will add her as a daughter in my family file.
