I'm a middle school English teacher that spends "spare" time conducting genealogical research. I have spent lots of time in the Forest Hill and Laurel Hill cemeteries, but recently focused most of my efforts at St. Bernard's and St. Joseph's.

Please feel free to use photos that I take for whatever purpose you choose. However, any and all photos must include proper source information in the citation. This allows other researchers to maintain the integrity of the research process.

I often have additional and/or higher quality images, and sometimes additional information, for many of the memorials. Please contact me if interested.

Please note that although I strive to take the best possible quality photos, I occasionally upload pictures that I plan to replace in the future.

I generally create memorials with the same spelling used on the marker, when one exists. Additional information, such as names of parents, also utilize information/spelling as seen on the primary sources.

Several gravestones at Laurel Hill no longer stand where they were first erected. Several factors, including erosion and vandalism, have led to these stones being placed in seemingly random locations. I try to document both where these stones are now, and where they should be.

"Pvt. Lester Morton (119680101)
RE: Your photo request...

I believe the memorial for L. Morton is both a duplicate and incorrect. The veteran is L. Horton. See memorial #97126242."

Dear Bill, I did put in a photo request on both of them but I am not the memorial holder of either. I tend to agree with you that it's a duplicate but I don't have any evidence either way. I'd wait to see if someone can get a photo of Lester Morton's headstone or someone saying it doesn't exist or contact the holder of the memorial and alert them.

James Brown Ferguson
Hi Bill
I am researching a James Ferguson (born abt 1890 Scotland - 1938 Fitchburg, Massachusetts). The James I am researching was married to my husband's great-aunt Janet Clark Ferguson nee Clark. It appears there are two James Fergusons who lived in Fitchburg, mine and a James Brown Ferguson, also born in Scotland and who died in California in 1942 and was married to a Mary and the son of Jane Kerr Brown and John Ferguson.
In 1917 when James B registered for the draft, he claims to have 3 children and is a book keeper.
In 1920 James B was in Fitchburg and was an Accountant. In 1920 my James was in Baintree, Norfolk MA. He had no job.
In 1930 my James is in Fitchburg and working in a Paper Mill. Janet's other Elizabeth Wilson is living with them.
In 1940 James B is in Alameda and working as a salesman. Daughter Isabel (from 1920 census) is living with her parents.
They also both claim to have migrated in 1913.

Can you please let me know where the information came from that included "Brown" in my James' Find A Grave memorial?

Regards Wendy
