I started doing genealogy back in the early 1980's, researching the Jewett (my mothers' maiden name) Family in the Wright County, Minnesota area. That was back before the computer, when it was door to door, phone calls, or US mail. I gathered 18 notebooks full of information and now am slowly getting that information listed on Ancestry.com. |
I started back on my family research in February 2011 after retiring in January of that year.
Unfortunatly, most of the people I talked to back in the 1980's can now only be found on Find A Grave.
To any of you doing family research, I suggest you get to the oldest family members first and get as much information as you can before it is lost to time. Some of their stories (not always true) are interesting and more importantly, informative to your research.
Since starting back up this year, I have made some awesome discoveries thanks to the web. Lots of it I would have never found had it not been for the internet.
Find A Grave is an awesome site, people helping people. I can't say enough good things about it.
I live near the little town of Nimrod, Minnesota in Wadena County located in west central Minnesota. I used to travel the whole northeastern part of the state in my work and drove past many cemeteries, not ever knowing what I was missing out on. Maybe that's a good thing, I would have never got my work done!
To all of you who have helped me, I thank you sincerely and will do my best to help as many folks as I can in their research.
If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them.
All PHOTOS on FAG are legally COPYRIGHTED works, belonging to the original photographer. Mine are Creative Commons licensed, described here:
Briefly, you have permission for reuse of my photographs only for non-commercial purposes, with attribution, in a manner and context that is not offensive. This permission does NOT include adding my photos to other record entries or locations. Please ask first
You may use them on Ancestry.com, please be nice and give credit.
PLEASE USE EDIT TAB ON MEMORIAL FOR REQUESTING TRANSFERS!!!
I am working on several cemeteries trying to fill in as much information as possible and trying to make as many links as possible. I therefore am sending out a lot of correction requests. If you don't want, or don't know how to make the corrections, please just transfer the memorial to me with a note you want it back and I will make the corrections and additions and transfer it back to you.

|Bulldog||Morrissey NOT in Oconto Catholic|
The wiocgs.org site shows your Charles (1897-1946) and Lulu (1874-1959) are resting in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Oconto Falls. You should probably change the request to see if anyone there can assist you. They are in Sec. 5, Row 1, and there are already photos on the above site for each.

So very sad when a baby dies! I know you will take good care of her memorial.

Find A Grave Memorial# 121930040
You left two flowers on his memorial page both dated as of Sep 11 2017.
Just a reminder that the FAQs state:
Limit flowers to no more than one flower per memorial per day.
Therefore, I would appreciate it if you would delete one.

|jessicado||Re photo request for Johann Brockup in St James Lutheran Cemetery|
Hi, I'm from Oregon, but was on vacation in Parker's Prairie last week and tried to fulfill your photo request. I searched the entire "old" section of the cemetery and did not come across any headstones for Johann. I did come across a Johanna Brockopp Wilke (1846-1878)- not sure if she is related. The older markers are all in front in a pretty small section, but I think quite a few are missing.
The church was not open for specific burial space information, so I am not sure if his grave is unmarked, or if he is oddly buried in a different section - but I figured I would let you know. I was only able to go the one day and didn't have a chance to check into it anymore before I left, sorry! Good luck, :)Jessica

Nice to "meet" you. I've transferred those memorials to you as you state they are in your wife's line. If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know.
