Find A Grave Message: Added by BAL on Sep 23, 2017 9:54 AM. Apparently Charles W. Benedict is a cenotaph (empty tomb or a monument erected in honour of a person ) and is buried elsewhere. His wife, Laura Bishop is buried in Verona with two stones, one in section A and is very difficult to read and the other in section C with Charles, Laura and ELiza's name on it. Probate 17 Mar 1880  Eaton, MI. CHARLES W. BENEDICT Rome Sentinel April 6, 1880 VERONA  Charles W. Benedict died at Eaton Rapids, Mich., March 14, aged 78 years. Mr. Benedict was formerly a prominent and esteemed resident of Verona, and left this place for Michigan about 27 years ago. His daughter, Eliza J. Benedict, now a resident of Verona, has been with her father during the winter, expecting that he could not long survive.

Quandry: I would seem that there are two burials for the same man. I contacted Maple Hill Cemetery and indeed this Charles was married at some time to Nancy Baker Benedict and the other persons on the headstone match the family info. i have. So I wondered if you had any information?

But then I found this grave. So his daughter Eliza Jane Benedict (1833 - 1923)* must have placed this grave for him, unsure which one he actually resides.

Thank you for updating the Colburn memorials. I was tracing one of my memorials in Paterson, NJ to see how far I could go back on FindAGrave. I'm only distantly related. This was for fun.

Dennis Dunn
Hi Bea,
I believe Dennis Dunn's real birth year was 1835 as that was when he was baptized . I know that all other documents suggest later. Those are his parents on the baptismal document.

Thank you for all your hard work. I just noticed the incorporation of obituaries into my 2nd great grandparents memorials...such a find! I am thrilled with the work you are doing!!!
Are the Rome Sentinel records available online, outside of Ancestry?

RE: Abel Photos
I went to the office and looked at the plot plans. That made it much easier.
