Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.

This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!

This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into so many already have...

I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.

Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.

I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".

This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.

This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.

An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......

In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

Thank you for all your work in the Batavia Cemetery. And thank you for accepting my edits on the Holden family. It has been wonderful to find their memorials.

Katharina Staebell - St John the Baptist Cemetery
I would like to use your grave stone pic of Katharina Staebell on my private tree with credit to you for the pic. All the Staebells buried in St. John the Baptist Cemetery are related. What great work you are doing. Thank you so much.

Irving L'Hommedieu
Hello Donna, I added a photograph of him to his memorial. It had appeared in a 1902 newspaper article.

Also, I'm going to submit an edit request to add the following to the Bio Section. It's from his death notice (ironic to find someone who you interact with every time you register a car):

While serving in the New York State Senate in 1905 he introduced the first measure for licensing and taxing automobiles and for this was credited with being the father of the now nation-wide plan for taxing and licensing motor Vehicles.

Thanks for having created his memorial. Paul Turner

Wow. Well, that's too bad. This has the potential to be important info, but unless I can know the source and talk with them, they can't attach to my ancestor, so please go ahead and take the steps you propose. This is going to become garbage in garbage out, isn't it? Too bad. Find a Grave has been an important research tool for many of us.

In 2008 you linked this Abner Ashley to my relative Clarissa B. Ashley (34334025). Can you tell me how you know this is a valid relationship? Where can I go to see supporting information? Any help you can give is appreciated. Thanks

Thank you for adding the memorial for my great-great-grandfather and his wife. I live so far away that I doubt I'll ever see it in person, so it means a lot to me that you added them. :)

Would you consider transferring them over to me- only if you aren't also related, of course? If you ARE related, I'd love to compare notes! :) Regardless of the answer, I remain very grateful! :)

RE: Downloading your Pix
I just uploaded the pictures from find a grave of DIADEMA SHELDON (Egelston Family Cemetery) and they are just as tiny as your profile picture on Find A Grave and very blurry. You said you had taken the Diadema Sheldon pictures (3) off your computer. If they're still in your delete box, I'd love to have them. I can't get the ones off Find A Grave to be large enough to view, or clear enough to view. Do you live close to this cemetery?
