I see you declined my edited name change for him. So was it the obituary citing Earl Hodges 'Jr.' that was wrong? They certainly can be wrong. Earl's marker does have 'W' as his middle initial, so he must really be a Wilbur, right?

Hi - I picked up his middle name as Wilbur from reading his obituary combined with the children named in his memorial, one of which was Earl Wilbur Hodges Jr. One cannot be a junior unless the name matches the father, so I added Wilbur to the father as well as the designation Sr. If both the obituary for Earl Hodges (Sr.) and the memorial for Earl Wilbur Hodges (Jr.) are incorrect, please accept my apologies.

|Janice Tirrell||Just a hello.|
Just wanted to say that I love your profile picture. The memories we make with our children are so precious. Best wishes.
|Joanne Paisley||Re:Olive Viola Zook Brubaker|
# 29866732. Hello, I have found a second burial place for Olive Viola Brubaker. The second memorial page is #15856527 in Delphos Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. In the second one she is buried with an infant. Which is probably the infant mentioned in the obit. They have their deaths in 1864. If you enlarge the picture of the stone you can make out Olive above the Viola.
The writing on Olive's stone on your memorial page is illegible, but looks like the script might be the same as the one in Ottawa Co. The two counties are quite a distance from each other, but Ottawa Co. is not far from Abilene where her father was living. It is hard to believe that there were two Olive Viola Brubakers. I'm totally confused. Can you shed some light on this? Joanne
|Tiggywinkle||Haas Cemetery, Circleville, Kansas|
Mr. Mick, I was wondering if you could provide some kind of directions or map or other information concerning the location of this cemetery. In Kansas last week, my family & I wanted to visit this cemetery, as several of our relatives are buried there, including my great-great-great-grandmother Anna Marie (Sutphin) Burnett. We found Circleville on the map--it seemed quite small, and showed only one paved road into the town (and 3 unpaved). As it seemed to be a small place, and the only indication of the location of the cemetery was "Circleville," we concluded that it must be easy to find and set out--planning to make a brief stop on our way from Holton, KS to Fairbury, NE.
Upon arriving in Circleville, we followed signs that said "City Cemetery"...only to arrive at what was clearly not the place we were looking for! We drove around in the area for a while, hoping to run across it, but never did. We never did see anybody to ask; it was a Sunday, and we saw quite a few cars parked at the church, but we never saw anybody out-and-about. Eventually, we gave up and had to leave without finding it.
Clearly you have been there--and I greatly appreciate the pictures you have posted of my family-associated graves. I was, however, disappointed not to be able to pay my respects in person. I don't know when I will be able to make it to Kansas again, but I hope to some day, and if I do, I would like to be able to visit this cemetery. Where exactly is it?

|Mike Weatherhead||I figured it out|
Thomas, I finally figured how I know your name. I looked at your "virtual cemetary." When I clicked onto Shirley Mick, it hit me like a ton of bricks....Shirley and my mom were good friends. In fact, they both worked at Gilks potato chips (my dad did too). My Aunt Marilyn worked at the same dress factory, as Shirley. How are you related to Shirley? I don't remember her, but I do remember my mom and dad talking about her. Small world.
|Mike Weatherhead||I know your name, for some reason|
Thank you for all your good work. My mom was Evelyn Brownlow, daughter of Jess & Rachel (Carpenter) Brownlow. It's driving me crazy, because I know of your last name. I don't know how, but somewhere along the way, somebody (maybe my mom) talked about either knowing, or being related to some Micks, back in Kansas. Unfortunately, she, and my grandparents are no longer here to ask. We moved to AZ when I was young (I'm 52 now). We visited Topeka, Holton, Mayetta, whenever we could, growing up. My grandparents lived on land near Mayetta. My Uncles are Doug & Don Brownlow, Aunts names are Shirley (Brownlow) Horr, Kathy (Brownlow) Johnston, Linda (Brownlow) Mahkuk. Also had an aunt Doris Armstrong and Marilyn May (both deceased). Anyway, thank you for all your documentation and photos of my ancestors/family member's graves.
