PLEASE DO NOT POST DEATH CERTIFICATES OR PICTURES OF OBITS IN THE PHOTO AREA OF MEMORIALS I HAVE CREATED OR THAT I MAINTAIN. I FEEL THAT DEATH CERTIFICATES ARE IN POOR TASTE AND THAT AREA IS RESERVED FOR HEADSTONES AND PHOTOS OF THE DECEASED. |
I am researching Cantrell, Gunn, James, Taylor, Eakin and Monsey families.
I have great respect for our veterans and recently completed (with the help of my cousin) marking more than 2000 veteran graves in Plainview. We placed a sticker on each stone so they could be easily identified when flags are placed at the cemetery on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I am adding photos of their headstones periodically.

What a great resource! I had no idea that it existed. I will use it on several other stones too. No need to check at the cemetery! I will sent the link to the person who made the memorial and ask to have the memorial moved to Petersburg.
Thanks, Sandy! You're the best!

Hi, Sandy! I have a huge favor to ask. I requested a photo for Roger Dale Reedy (b & d 1949) at the Plainview Cemetery. I am not sure, however, that he is actually buried there. His death certificate does say Plainview, but I photographed a stone in Petersburg that I think is his. It says only Infant Son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Reedy with the dates. The next time you are at the Plainview Cemetery, would you check to see if there is a record for this baby? We all know how there are errors on death certificates.

Many of the headstones out at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery are extremely hard to read, even in person, due to age of white marble, striations in the marble and/or etchings with no letter darkening. Some of the headstones have dark lettering and many do not.....and they are very hard to read. Click on the photo to enlarge a couple times and it will be much easier to read.
